8BitDo has expanded its gaming controller lineup with the Ultimate 3 Controller in a new Lavender Dusk edition, bringing TMR joysticks, adjustable stick tension, Hall Effect triggers and an integrated wireless charging dock to Xbox and PC players. The officially licensed Xbox controller is now shipping across European markets through distributor Game Outlet Europe.
Announced September 22, 2026, the Ultimate 3 is positioned as a premium controller designed to combine precision hardware with expanded customization options and a redesigned ergonomic chassis.
8BitDo Ultimate 3 Introduces TMR Joysticks With Adjustable Tension
One of the controller’s central upgrades is its use of Tunnel Magnetoresistance, or TMR, joystick technology. The magnetic sensing system is designed to provide precise input while reducing the physical contact and wear associated with conventional analog stick components.
The joysticks are paired with 8BitDo’s Force Ring system, which allows users to physically adjust stick resistance. Players can select lighter resistance for faster movement or increase tension when greater control is preferred, including during precision aiming.
According to the company, the controller uses a 216MHz processor and a 12-bit ADC sampling chip to process inputs.

Hall Effect Triggers and Additional Controls Target Competitive Play
The Ultimate 3 also features Hall Effect impulse triggers that rely on magnetic, contactless sensing. Two-stage physical trigger stops allow players to shorten trigger travel, a feature that can be particularly useful in shooters and other games where rapid inputs are important.
L4 and R4 Bumpers Expand Button Options
Along with two remappable rear paddle buttons, 8BitDo has added L4 and R4 bumpers near the controller’s standard shoulder controls.
The additional inputs are intended to provide faster access to frequently used commands without requiring players to move their fingers away from the primary controls. Button configurations can be adjusted through 8BitDo’s software.
The controller’s chassis has also been redesigned with a wider grip angle and textured surfaces intended to provide a more natural grip during extended gaming sessions.
Wireless Charging Dock Handles Power and Reconnection
A zero-contact wireless charging dock is included with the Ultimate 3. When placed on the magnetic dock, the controller automatically powers down and begins charging.
Removing it from the dock wakes the controller and allows it to reconnect, reducing the number of manual steps required between gaming sessions.
The charging system is integrated into a package designed for players who regularly keep their controller positioned on a desk or entertainment center when it is not being used.
Multiple Connection Options for Xbox, Windows PC and Mobile
The 8BitDo Ultimate 3 supports several connectivity methods depending on the platform. Xbox consoles and Windows PCs can connect using a low-latency 2.4GHz wireless connection or USB-C.
On PC, the controller supports polling rates of up to 1,000Hz. Bluetooth connectivity is also available for compatible mobile devices, providing another option for players who use controllers across multiple gaming platforms.
Software Offers Detailed Controller Customization
Users can configure the controller through 8BitDo Ultimate Software X on Xbox and PC or Ultimate Software V2 on mobile devices.
Customization options include button remapping, trigger settings, stick dead zones and vibration profiles. These controls allow players to tailor the hardware to different genres and individual preferences.
The controller additionally supports customizable six-axis motion control when connected to a PC using its 2.4GHz mode. Motion-based aiming and other supported actions can be adjusted through 8BitDo Ultimate Software X.
