Genshin Impact, an ambitious Chinese RPG inspired by the Breath of the Wild, has been released today

Date:

Three and a half years after Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, an open world game with the same freedom of traverse has begun to emerge. Ubisoft’s Immortals Fenyx Rising is very Zelda-inspiredThere’s a light dusting of RPG mechanics, but the Genshin Impact released today by Chinese developer Mihoyo is something different. This is a larger, more ambitious blend of Zelda’s open world, action-rich JRPGs, and mobile “Gacha” games, with co-op thrown up. And it’s free to play.

Genshin Impact seems to be the biggest gacha game ever. Gacha RPGs, which are popular on mobile, are built around random lottery. Use currency to buy characters and character equipment and always chase the highs of “S Tier” drops.
