As Activision announced, Sony had exclusive rights to the game shortly before the release of Modern Warfare. The game wasn’t ultimately exclusive to the Timed PlayStation, but the Spec Ops Survival game mode was played on the PS.

In other words, until now. As the community has seen, MW’s Season 6 update patch brings this game mode to PC and Xbox, along with many other additions. Of course, the news was mixed with reactions from the CoD community.
Many players were happy that this mode was a PlayStation-only DLC. However, on the other hand, other players on the console are happy that this mode is available on other platforms. Obviously, PC and Xbox players are happy with this too.
The Spec Ops Survival game mode comes with your PC and Xbox, but what does that mean for future Call of Duty titles?
This can be seen from a fairly positive perspective. Previously, all CoD titles were available on the selected console before they were available on other platforms. Now it’s the only game mode. Needless to say, the future of CoD titles looks good now, exclusively.
But this inevitably raises questions about the next Call of Duty title, Black Ops Cold War. Currently, there is no news that Activision has signed an exclusive contract with Sony or Xbox. But even so, it will still be a limited exclusivity for a single DLC or game mode.
