next Recent ransomware attacks Capcom’s internal system by the hacker Laguner Locker Group leaked some of the alleged 1TB of data to 4chan after Capcom apparently refused to meet their demands.
These leaks always have to be taken with a little salt, but there are still a lot of interesting nuggets, especially now that Capcom has been able to react to publicly available information and change plans accordingly.
The attraction of the headline is probably the release date of Resident Evil Village. We already knew it was next year, but the leak narrowed it down to late April and it’s not too far away. You may be able to get the slice in advance, but the demo will appear first, so the PS5 player will get it faster than anyone else.
Similar to Resident Evil 3 Remake, Village seems to launch with another online element codenamed Dominion. The leak doesn’t provide any other details about Dominion, but hopefully it works better than the Resistance spin-off in Resi3. The VR version of Resident Evil 4 is also mentioned, but it’s clearly Oculus-only. Like Village, it has an April release date.The calendar will also show May as the interim release date for the recently announced Resident Evil Netflix series. Infinite darkness..
OK, zombies don’t get in the way, so let’s move on to monsters. Monster Hunter: Rise and Monster Hunter Stories 2, announced for Nintendo Switch at the Nintendo Direct Mini in September, will probably be released on PC. Monster Hunter Stories 2 on PC will be available in June 2021 at the same time as the Switch version and will receive both free and paid DLC. Monster Hunter Rise, the official sequel to Monster Hunter World, will be released on PC in October 2021 with new monsters, new locales, and rideable wolves. Monster Hunter: Given the huge success of World and Iceborn, the PC port was probably easy.
The leak also contains a translated document for a new game codenamed Shield. This is a shooter with campaigns and several multiplayer modes such as raids, survival and base defense. The PC demo planned for September 2021 can be seen in the leaked image of the business plan, scheduled for release in March 2022. One unintended and entertaining bit of the leak is to hire a popular streamer to plan community building to see the Shield team understand that streaming was done for recent marketing. The slide states that “the contract fee is very high and the streamer is likely to stop playing as soon as the contract expires” and “the middle class actively trying to attract more followers.” It’s more efficient to turn using “streamers” and appoint them as long-term ambassadors.
