Adobe has permanently shut down its Flash Player system and urged everyone who downloaded it to uninstall it.

First released in 1996, it has been one of the most popular tools for streaming video and streaming online. But then it ran into security issues and couldn’t adjust to the smartphone era. One of his biggest detractors was Steve Jobs, who wrote a poisonous letter in 2010 about why he would not allow Flash to work on Apple products. Finally, Adobe created a version of Flash Player that could work on smartphones. But meanwhile the Internet had advanced. Big brands like Facebook, Netflix and YouTube were already streaming videos to smartphones without Flash, and in November 2011, Adobe ended development of the mobile program.

In July 2017, Adobe announced that it would retire Flash in 2020.
