There seem to be two problems with AMD processors. First, Windows 11 triples the latency of the L3 cache. This leads to a performance decrease of 3-5% and, in the case of games and esports titles, even up to 15%.
Another problem is related to the technology integrated by the company that chooses to run the processes in the core faster. Therefore, AMD advises users of processors with more than 8 cores to wait until the problem is resolved. And this leads to poor performance when upgrading to Windows 11.
The good news is that Microsoft and AMD have teamed up to solve the problems. The companies say they are currently “looking into the problems” and looking for a solution that will likely come in the form of a software update. Currently, the best option for PC or laptop users with AMD Ryzen processors is to stick with Windows 10 for a few more days.
Users with compatible Intel processors and TPM 2.0 do not seem to have a problem.
