WhatsApp, a popular messaging app around the world, recently added a payment service to its platform. The WhatsApp Payments service is introduced for the first time in India and Brazil. Under this WhatsApp, users can send money to each other. Now a recent report has appeared, stating that in the near future, users will have to prove their identity in order to make payments via WhatsApp.

According to the XDA technology forum, WhatsApp’s Android 2.21.22.6 beta has some new features, suggesting that users of the app will be asked to submit documents as proof of identity to make a payment. There has been no official announcement from WhatsApp, so it could not be confirmed if the rule will be for a specific region or for all. Also, this rule is likely to be removed after testing.
Currently WhatsApp does not request any type of verification for payment in India or Brazil. WhatsApp uses the UPI service for payment and verification by real number. According to the report, it is also possible that the company will launch the service in some new countries, where verification will be required for payment.

Another important news about WhatsApp is that as of November 1, WhatsApp will no longer be available on many popular smartphones. In fact, WhatsApp will now only work on smartphones with Android 4.1 (or higher), iOS 10 (or higher), KaiOS 2.5.0 (or higher). This means that WhatsApp will be disabled on devices running on older operating systems. The list of such phones includes Apple iPhone SE, iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, etc.
