PS Remote Play app for Android receives DualSense support

In May, the application ios from P.S. Remote playback gained support for DualSense, allowing users to use the latest controller from Sony to play PlayStation games on their iPhones. Now, six months later, Sony is finally on its feet in expansion DualSense support for devices Android.

As revealed by the account Twitter Official from PlayStation, the PS Remote Play app for Android is getting a new update that finally adds support for the DualSense wireless controller. Although the PS Remote Play app for Android has been compatible with the PlayStation 5 since October last year, users could only use the DualShock 4 controller, but now that changes.

PlayStation 5: now on Android you can connect the new DualSense

DualSense support is rolling out with version 4.6.0 of the PS Remote Play app. Additionally, the latest update also enables touchpad and motion sensor support on the DualShock 4 controller. The problem, however, is that all of these functions are currently limited to devices. Android 12.

The full changelog for the PS Remote Play app version 4.6.0 includes:

  • You can now use the DualSense wireless controller on mobile devices with Android 12 installed.
  • You can now use the touchpad and motion sensor of the DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller on mobile devices with Android 12 installed.

For the uninitiated, the PS Remote Play app allows PlayStation console owners to stream games to a phone or tablet over their local network. Users can play using the buttons upon screen or a compatible wireless controller. Initially exclusively for Sony smartphones Xperia, Sony finally opened the app to all Android and iOS devices in 2019. Last year, the app gained support for the PlayStation 5.
