Supposedly 4 new 5000 CPUs in March and data on new thread extractors

AMD is rumored to launch four new 5000 series processors in March. One of them is already expected: the Ryzen 7 5800X3D with 8 cores and 16 threads, which receives the V-Cache. But there should be three other models: Ryzen 5 5500, Ryzen 5 5600 and Ryzen 5 5700X. Partly in reaction to Intel, they fill in the gaps in AMD’s portfolio. The Ryzen 5 5500 is said to have 6 cores and 6 threads, which would be somewhat unusual for AMD, but it needs an attractively priced alternative to the Core i3 12100. The Ryzen 5 5600 is said to attack the Core i5-12400 and offer 6 cores with 12 threads. Finally, the Ryzen 5 5700X with 8 cores and 16 threads, which should be placed as a cheap alternative to the Core i5-12600KF.

To realize this, AMD also has to adjust its wafer quota at TSMC. There weren’t any other Ryzen models either, because they just didn’t have the capabilities and therefore wanted to keep it simple. Especially since the APUs are still to be manufactured, part of which disappears as a custom chip in consoles, and the other part is used for contracts with OEM partners in laptops and desktops. And then it also has to produce some graphics chips from the contingent, even though it’s already a major customer at TSMC. Larger contingents, if available, are expensive. Nvidia is said to have paid large sums to switch from Samsung at 8nm to TSMC at 5nm.

Smaller CPU models could also still be produced when switching to the next generation, so a timing close to the next generation launch, which is expected in Q4, is not as critical in this case.
