There’s now a major restriction for Android users on Amazon: You can no longer buy e-books, audiobooks, and music from Samsung and co. through the shipping giant’s app. This rule has been in place for iOS for about ten years.
Until now, Android smartphone owners could easily download e-books and audiobooks through the Amazon app. However, this should end soon, like ArsTechnica. reported. Therefore, the options to buy and borrow Kindle eBooks and Audible audiobooks are no longer possible effective immediately.
Owners of an Apple iPhone or iPad have been used to this restriction for a long time. It has not been possible to download here since 2011.
If you want to download an ebook or audiobook through the app, you will receive a warning that in-app purchase is no longer possible. Instead, you must create a listing and then purchase the content through the browser.

The new restriction for Android devices, however, has the same reason Apple did a decade ago. The background is new guidelines in the Google Play Store. Like the iPhone makers, Google now wants to take action against vendors that don’t comply with the new rules. In particular, it concerns commissions, which are generally around 30 percent.
As it is now known, it is no longer possible to purchase songs and albums through Amazon Music on the Android app. Here, too, Amazon recommends doing it through the browser from now on.
