A simple Google search for titles like Halo Infinite, Control, Forza Horizon 5 and co could be enough in the future to launch games with the push of a button and without waiting or demanding gaming hardware. A new “Play” button should take users directly to popular cloud gaming services that offer the game in their library. Similar options are already available within Google’s movie and series search and its streaming platforms.

It would have been conceivable for Google to limit its new features to its own Stadia service, but the company appears to be relatively open in favor of users. Like the YouTuber, among others Bryant Chapel Y the edge Report, instant game launch via Google Search will also be integrated for Microsoft Xbox Cloud Gaming, Nvidia GeForce Now, and Amazon Luna. To land directly in the game, it is assumed that the user has already logged into the respective streaming services with his account. Otherwise, the instant start effect will be lost and players will be redirected to the respective platform’s registration and login websites. However, once the course has been set, users are spared two or three clicks that would otherwise have been required to launch the game.
So far, it appears that Google only makes the “Play” button available to select users, much like search dark mode once did. So it’s not clear if the feature will roll out across the board in the future. Similarly, the currently ongoing A/B testing of game streaming options might only be limited to the US area.
