Port of Jumanah Unveils Expanded Demo During Steam Ocean Fest 2026

Date:

Indie action-adventure game Port of Jumanah is making waves during Steam Ocean Fest 2026 with a major updated demo that introduces new gameplay systems, expanded combat options, and additional underwater encounters.

Developed by Red Dunes Games in collaboration with Agate, the 2.5D roguelite adventure gives players an early look at its fantasy-inspired underwater world ahead of the game’s planned launch in the third quarter of 2026 for PC and consoles.

Port of Jumanah Combines Underwater Exploration and Roguelite Combat

Set beneath the ocean’s surface, Port of Jumanah follows Mansour, a pearl diver pulled into a larger world-saving journey after an unexpected turn of events underwater.

Players explore colorful oceans filled with hostile sea creatures, hidden dangers, and randomized encounters while engaging in fast-paced combat and progression-based gameplay. The game combines action-adventure mechanics with roguelite systems designed to encourage repeat playthroughs and different combat builds.

The developers describe the experience as an “underwater odyssey” featuring bizarre enemies, exploration-focused gameplay, and unpredictable encounters throughout each dive.

Updated Demo Adds New Features and Gameplay Improvements

The latest Steam Ocean Fest demo includes several major additions designed to showcase what players can expect from the full release.

Performance and Gameplay Enhancements

According to the developers, gameplay performance has been optimized to deliver smoother combat and improved responsiveness across the demo experience.

Players now also have access to a fully implemented settings menu, offering additional customization and accessibility options.

Adjustable Oxygen Mechanics

One of the most notable additions is a customizable oxygen system. Based on player feedback from earlier demos, the developers added an option to disable oxygen depletion entirely for players who prefer a more relaxed exploration experience.

The feature gives players greater flexibility in how they approach underwater exploration and pacing.

New Characters, Bosses, and Combat Options

The demo also introduces:

  • A new random boss encounter
  • Additional sailing interactions with new characters
  • Four new Power-Up Cards for expanded combat builds
  • A weapon shop operated by Professor Aisha
  • Reworked enemy placement and combat balancing

Players can also discover destructible environmental objects that drop random items, encouraging more exploration throughout the underwater world.

Steam Ocean Fest Highlights Ocean-Themed Games

The updated demo arrives during Steam Ocean Fest 2026, Valve’s themed digital event spotlighting games focused on aquatic exploration, naval adventures, and underwater survival experiences.

Running from May 18 through May 25, the event gives players access to demos and showcases from upcoming indie and major releases centered on ocean-based gameplay.

For indie developers, Steam events like Ocean Fest have become increasingly important for building early player interest and gathering community feedback before launch.

Developers Aim to Deliver a Distinctive Underwater Adventure

In a statement accompanying the updated demo, the developers said they had prepared “fun surprises under the ocean” for players exploring the latest build.

The game’s blend of fantasy storytelling, roguelite mechanics, and underwater exploration helps distinguish it from more traditional survival-focused ocean games currently popular on PC storefronts.

Publisher Red Dunes Games is based in Abu Dhabi and focuses on globally inspired original game projects, while Agate has become one of Southeast Asia’s largest game development studios, contributing to more than 250 games across platforms including PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, mobile devices, and Steam.

Conclusion

With expanded gameplay systems, new combat options, and improved accessibility features, Port of Jumanah is using Steam Ocean Fest 2026 to offer players a deeper look into its underwater fantasy world. As the game moves toward its planned release later this year, the updated demo provides an early opportunity for players to explore its roguelite-inspired ocean adventure firsthand.
