Nvidia is expanding its artificial intelligence ambitions beyond data centers and into everyday computing, unveiling a new generation of chips designed to power AI-focused Windows laptops and desktop PCs. The announcement signals the company’s growing effort to reshape the future of personal computing as demand for AI-powered consumer technology accelerates across the United States and global markets.

The Santa Clara, California-based semiconductor giant introduced the new hardware Monday during its annual Nvidia GTC conference in Taipei, Taiwan. The company said major manufacturers, including Microsoft and Dell, are expected to launch devices using the new technology later this year.

Nvidia Targets the Next Era of AI-Powered PCs

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang introduced the company’s new RTX Spark superchip during his keynote address, describing it as a major step toward what he called the next generation of personal computers.

The chip combines CPU and GPU capabilities into a single platform aimed at handling advanced artificial intelligence workloads directly on consumer devices. Nvidia said the technology will support a new category of “AI personal computers” expected to debut this fall.

Microsoft is partnering closely with Nvidia on the initiative. During the presentation, Huang said the two companies are working together to “reinvent the PC.”

“When it has an autonomous AI agent, an agent that’s helping you, that understands you, you could talk to it,” Huang said. “It could read files, help you do research, and do a lot more.”

Microsoft said in a separate statement that PCs powered by Nvidia’s RTX superchips would be capable of running highly advanced AI models locally rather than relying entirely on cloud-based computing.

That shift could appeal to businesses, gamers, creators, and consumers seeking faster performance, lower latency, and improved privacy controls for AI applications.

Analysts Say Nvidia Is Positioning for Consumer AI Growth

Industry analysts said Nvidia’s latest move reflects rising demand for AI-powered personal devices as artificial intelligence becomes more integrated into daily life.

Lian Jye Su, chief analyst at research firm Omdia, said the expansion of AI PCs could give consumers more options as companies compete to define the next stage of computing.

“For consumers, it means more choices, which is always a good thing,” Su said.

Neil Shah, co-founder and analyst at Counterpoint Research, described the announcement as potentially transformative for the PC industry over the next decade.

He said Nvidia’s long-term vision appears focused on bringing advanced AI computing into ordinary households.

“These new laptops and desktops will drive agentic AI applications in every home,” Shah said, adding that the company is effectively aiming to place an “AI supercomputer” in households worldwide.

The push comes as U.S. technology companies race to integrate generative AI into hardware products ranging from smartphones to enterprise workstations.

Nvidia Continues Broader AI Expansion

Nvidia also used the event to highlight advances in its data center business, which has fueled the company’s rapid financial growth during the global AI boom.

Huang announced that Nvidia’s new Vera CPUs for data centers are now in full production. He described the processors as a potential “major growth driver” as businesses increasingly adopt AI agents and automation tools.

Early customers are expected to include major AI and technology firms such as Anthropic, OpenAI, and SpaceXAI.

In addition, Nvidia unveiled a humanoid robot reference design intended to serve as a research blueprint for universities and robotics developers.

The company said the design could support future innovation in robotics and AI-driven automation, particularly in higher education and research environments.
