Football-Themed Update Brings Portugal, Argentina and Other National Teams Into the Game
PUBG MOBILE is tapping into the global excitement surrounding international soccer this summer with the launch of its new “Flame On Football Season,” a limited-time in-game event that blends competitive gaming with national team fandom. The event, which runs through July 21, introduces football-inspired content, team partnerships, community challenges and live interactive experiences for players worldwide.
Announced Monday, the update adds a variety of soccer-themed features to one of the world’s most-played mobile games, including official co-branded jerseys, collectible rewards and fan-focused prediction events tied to international matches.
The activation highlights a major partnership centered on the longstanding football rivalry between Portugal and Argentina — two countries widely recognized for producing some of the sport’s biggest global stars and championship-caliber national teams.
PUBG MOBILE Expands Sports-Themed Content
Players participating in Flame On Football Season can unlock free official jersey sets inspired by partnered national teams, along with exclusive PUBG MOBILE-branded uniforms and themed collectibles.
In addition to Portugal and Argentina, the campaign includes partnerships with the national teams of Uzbekistan and Iraq. PUBG MOBILE is also introducing a special jersey set inspired by Brazilian forward Richarlison, adding another internationally recognizable football figure to the in-game experience.
The event reflects a broader trend in the gaming industry, where publishers increasingly collaborate with sports organizations and athletes to create crossover entertainment experiences designed to engage younger audiences across digital platforms.
Throughout the season, players will be able to collect and trade football-themed player cards and national team cards while participating in soccer-inspired in-game celebrations and activities.
Global ‘Chicken Predictor’ Event Adds Interactive Match Forecasts
One of the more unusual additions to the event is the “Winner Winner Chicken Predictor,” a global community activity launching June 1.
The feature will involve 10 participating regions, each selecting a real-life chicken tasked with “predicting” match outcomes by choosing between national flags ahead of select World Cup games. Players can follow the predictions, support their preferred teams and earn rewards, including free jersey sets and exclusive items.
The event builds on PUBG MOBILE’s long-running “Winner Winner Chicken Dinner” branding, a phrase closely associated with the franchise since the original PUBG release.
PUBG MOBILE said the prediction event is intended to create a more community-driven matchday atmosphere inside the game while encouraging players to engage with real-world football competition.
Livestream Competition Planned Around Portugal-Argentina Rivalry
Later in the event, PUBG MOBILE plans to host a special fan livestream competition centered on the Portugal-versus-Argentina rivalry.
The livestream will feature two prominent gaming streamers leading teams in a live in-game showdown. Players will be able to join their preferred side and compete alongside fellow fans during the event.
Specific dates and additional details for the livestream competition have not yet been announced.
PUBG MOBILE Continues Global Expansion Through Live Events
Originally based on PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, the multiplayer survival game that became a worldwide phenomenon after launching in 2017, PUBG MOBILE has continued to expand its reach through collaborations, esports tournaments and seasonal live-service updates.
The game drops up to 100 players onto a battlefield where they compete until only one player or team remains. Developed by LIGHTSPEED STUDIOS of Tencent Games in partnership with KRAFTON, Inc., PUBG MOBILE remains one of the highest-grossing mobile games globally.
The new football-themed activation arrives as mobile gaming companies increasingly seek crossover opportunities with traditional sports, entertainment and livestreaming culture to maintain player engagement during major international sporting events.
PUBG MOBILE’s Flame On Football Season is available now and runs through July 21 on iOS and Android devices.
