Baito Fight!!: Part-Time Devil Hunter Brings Baseball-Inspired RPG Action to Steam on August 11, 2026

Date:

Indie JRPG Combines Daily Life Simulation, Devil Hunting, and Baseball Mechanics

A new indie role-playing game is preparing to step onto the field this summer, blending baseball-inspired combat, life simulation mechanics, and supernatural adventure. Developed by Osaka-based studio KINGOFSHIBUYA Ltd., Baito Fight!!: Part-Time Devil Hunter is scheduled to launch on PC via Steam on August 11, 2026, offering players a unique mix of turn-based RPG gameplay and everyday life challenges.

Set in Japan’s bustling city of Osaka, the game follows a retired baseball player attempting to start over, only to find himself facing a growing demonic threat in his new home.

A Former Ballplayer Faces a New Challenge in Osaka

Life After Baseball Takes an Unexpected Turn

Players take control of Anansi, a former baseball player seeking a quieter life after leaving the sport behind. After moving into an apartment in Osaka’s Naniwa Ward, Anansi hopes to settle into a routine away from the pressures of competition.

His plans quickly unravel when he discovers that devils have infested his apartment building, turning ordinary daily life into a constant struggle for survival.

As Anansi navigates his new surroundings, he must balance the demands of adult life—including paying rent and maintaining a home—with the ongoing battle against supernatural forces threatening his neighborhood.

Baseball Skills Power the Game’s Combat System

Turn-Based Battles Meet Sports-Inspired Mechanics

At the heart of Baito Fight!!: Part-Time Devil Hunter is a turn-based combat system that incorporates baseball-themed abilities and strategies.

Players use Anansi’s athletic skills to battle waves of devils through powerful pitches, precise strikes, and critical hits. The game also introduces a real-time defensive batting mechanic that rewards timing and accuracy. Successfully striking out enemies can inflict significant damage, while missed swings can reduce Anansi’s health.

The developers describe the experience as a compact RPG designed for shorter play sessions while still offering strategic depth and progression.

Retro Visual Style Draws Inspiration from Classic RPGs

The game features a lo-fi pixel art aesthetic and a cast of eccentric-looking demons. Its visual presentation takes inspiration from influential cult-favorite RPGs, including EarthBound, Undertale, and Yume Nikki.

The result is a colorful and unconventional world that blends humor, mystery, and supernatural themes.

Balancing Demon Hunting and Everyday Responsibilities

Rent, Jobs, and Survival

Combat is only one part of Anansi’s daily routine. Players must also manage practical concerns such as housing and finances.

By defeating devils, Anansi earns resources that help him stay afloat and avoid the threat of overdue rent. Local Japanese convenience stores, known as konbinis, play a key role in progression by allowing players to purchase upgrades, unlock new abilities, and strengthen their defenses against the growing infestation.

The combination of life management and RPG progression creates a gameplay loop centered on both personal survival and supernatural conflict.

A Living World That Changes Every Day

Relationships and Story Progression Evolve Over Time

One of the game’s defining features is its continuously advancing world. Neighbors, side quests, and story events evolve as time passes, encouraging players to return regularly.

Throughout the game, Anansi can build relationships with a diverse group of residents, each with their own personalities, stories, and challenges. New events and discoveries emerge with each in-game day, gradually revealing the mystery behind the devil outbreak and its connection to the community.

“Like Animal Crossing, Baito Fight is a game designed to be played for a few minutes every day in between doing other activities and playing other games,” said Seven Perteet, Creative Director of KINGOFSHIBUYA Ltd. “Every day you play, the in-game story, side quests, and battle content will change.”

Steam Launch Set for August 2026

Baito Fight!!: Part-Time Devil Hunter will launch for PC through Steam on August 11, 2026, with a retail price of $8.99.

Looking Ahead

With its unusual combination of baseball mechanics, daily life management, and retro-inspired RPG combat, Baito Fight!!: Part-Time Devil Hunter aims to carve out a distinctive place in the indie gaming landscape. As players prepare to step into Anansi’s shoes this August, the game offers a lighthearted yet mysterious adventure centered on friendship, responsibility, and battling demons one day at a time.
