Good Smile Company has announced that Patlabor: The Case Files, a new 3D action game based on the long-running Mobile Police Patlabor franchise, will launch September 17, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC.
Developed by CHIME Co., Ltd. and published by Good Smile Company, the single-player game will feature more than 20 Labors, multiple mission perspectives and a simulator mode. The PC edition will be distributed through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Patlabor: The Case Files Brings the Anime’s Mechs Into 3D Combat
Patlabor: The Case Files is designed to let players revisit notable situations and settings from the Mobile Police Patlabor series through 3D action gameplay.
The franchise takes place in a world where large robots known as Labors were developed for industrial purposes, particularly construction and civil engineering. As their use expanded, Labor-related crime also increased.
Within the story, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department responds by establishing the Special Vehicle Section 2 Patrol Labor Unit, commonly associated with the name Patlabor.
More Than 20 Labors Will Be Playable
More than 20 Labor machines are set to appear in the game, including recognizable units such as the Ingram, Griffon and Zero Type.
Players will be able to experience missions from different perspectives, including members of Special Vehicle Section 2 as well as characters opposing the unit. The approach is intended to provide different viewpoints on events familiar to fans of the franchise.
A separate Simulator Mode will expand the available gameplay beyond story missions. It includes shooting training exercises and Labor-versus-Labor combat, giving players additional opportunities to operate the game’s machines.
PC Version Coming to Steam and Epic Games Store
The PC edition of Patlabor: The Case Files is available to wishlist ahead of launch through Steam and the Epic Games Store. A digital PlayStation 5 version is also planned.
The game will support Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Korean, allowing the release to reach players across several international markets.
Good Smile Company is publishing the title, while CHIME is handling development. Mechanical design supervision is being provided by Yutaka Izubuchi, with Kazunori Ito supervising the scenario and Akemi Takada overseeing character art.
New Promotional Video Features Mīna Tominaga
Good Smile Company has also released a second promotional video featuring narration by Mīna Tominaga, the voice of Noa Izumi.
The new footage follows an earlier promotional video narrated by Toshio Furukawa, who voices Asuma Shinohara. The second video includes additional gameplay footage offering another preview of the upcoming release.
The promotional campaign draws on performers closely associated with Mobile Police Patlabor, connecting the new game with the established franchise.
Patlabor Game Heading to Good Smile Fest 2026 Osaka
Patlabor: The Case Files will also be featured at Good Smile Fest 2026 Osaka at Umeda Crystal Hall.
The event is scheduled for August 22 and August 23 and will showcase figures, plastic model kits and other Good Smile Company products. Admission is free.
The latest promotional videos for Patlabor: The Case Files will be screened during the event. However, organizers said there are currently no plans to sell game-related merchandise or provide an in-person playable exhibition of the title.
Patlabor Franchise Returns With New Interactive Experience
The upcoming release expands Good Smile Company’s activities beyond its established toys, figures and merchandise operations. The Tokyo-based company is also involved in game development and operation, animation, video and music production and other entertainment businesses.
For longtime Patlabor fans, The Case Files offers a new way to experience the franchise’s distinctive combination of police operations and industrial-mech action. For players unfamiliar with the series, the game introduces its central concept through a standalone 3D action format.
Patlabor: The Case Files is scheduled to launch September 17, 2026, as a single-player title for PlayStation 5 and PC, with more than 20 Labors, story missions and dedicated simulator challenges included.
