Green Lantern mythology dates to the Golden Age of Comics. The original Green Lantern, Alan Scott, debuted in 1940 in “All-American Comics” No. 16 before receiving his own series the following year.
The concept later evolved into the Green Lantern Corps, an organization made up of 7,204 intergalactic officers representing a wide range of species and civilizations. Members are assigned to patrol different Guardian sectors across the universe.
Several acclaimed comic-book runs have helped define the franchise.
