UN:Me Reveals New Soul Characters and Psychological Horror Gameplay at Gamescom 2026

Date:

Shueisha Games has shared new details about UN:Me, its upcoming psychological horror adventure built around four souls inhabiting the body of a single young girl. The latest gamescom 2026 showcase highlights the game’s shifting personalities, unsettling environments and central mystery of determining which soul is the body’s true owner.

Four Souls Compete for One Body in UN:Me

UN:Me is described as a “soul-triage adventure” that combines exploration, dialogue and psychological horror.

The four souls inhabiting the protagonist have lost their memories, but each firmly believes she is the rightful owner of the body. Players must explore a distorted world and recover Memory Fragments that reveal new information and unlock additional questions.

Conversations with the souls gradually expose details about their personalities and histories. Ultimately, players must determine which soul is genuine and decide which of the others should be erased.

Soul Changes Directly Affect Gameplay

Players will not always have complete control over the protagonist. Individual souls can unexpectedly take possession of the body, forcing players to adjust to different abilities and circumstances.

Each soul carries distinct traumas and capabilities. Depending on who is currently in control, environmental dangers can change, new actions can become available and previously inaccessible areas may open.

This unpredictable switching mechanic makes identifying the souls part of both the narrative and gameplay.

Soul I Is Emotional and Direct

Shueisha Games provided additional information about Soul I, describing her as someone who openly expresses whatever she is thinking.

Her manner of speaking is consistent with the age she claims to be, but she is highly emotional and can experience sudden changes in mood.

These behavioral characteristics could provide clues as players attempt to determine her identity.

Soul III Is Quiet and Distant

Soul III has a notably different personality.

She is thoughtful and deliberate, with a soft and polite speaking style. However, she maintains emotional distance, rarely makes eye contact and frequently appears aloof.

The differences between the souls extend beyond dialogue. Whenever control changes, the protagonist’s speech patterns, attitude and gameplay abilities can also change.

UN:Me Turns a Hospital Into a Psychological Labyrinth

A major location initially resembles an ordinary municipal hospital, but its appearance becomes increasingly disturbing as players travel deeper inside.

Players encounter nurses with unnatural smiles and patients whose heads have been replaced by flowers.

The shifting hospital serves as a labyrinth of the mind, combining surreal imagery with the memories and traumas associated with the four souls.

Memory Fragments Help Solve the Mystery

Recovering Memory Fragments is essential to understanding what happened to the protagonist.

The fragments provide information players can use when questioning the souls. As more evidence is collected, players will need to evaluate their responses and determine whether their stories support their claims of being the body’s true owner.

The structure places deduction and player judgment at the center of the experience rather than relying solely on conventional horror combat.

UN:Me Showcased at Gamescom 2026

A playable demo of UN:Me was presented to gamescom visitors in Cologne, giving attendees an opportunity to experience its soul-switching mechanics and psychological environments.

Shueisha Games also offered journalists and creators additional development material, including a look at the game’s facial motion-capture process and previously unseen footage.

An official website has also launched with information about the characters and gameplay. Visitors can share their opinions about which soul they believe should ultimately be erased based on the evidence revealed so far.

UN:Me Planned for PS5, Switch 2 and Steam

UN:Me is scheduled for release in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam. Pricing has not yet been announced.

The single-player game is being published by Shueisha Games and developed by historia, with Takuya Yamanaka responsible for planning and the scenario.

With four competing identities, unpredictable changes in control and an unsettling world shaped by memory and trauma, UN:Me is using psychological deduction to put an unusual question at the heart of its horror experience: which soul is real, and which ones should disappear?
