TiGames has provided its most extensive look yet at ZOOPUNK, unveiling new gameplay during IGN’s gamescom 2026 showcase. The upcoming third-person action RPG expands the Animal Punk universe established in F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch, with the footage highlighting multiple playable characters, environments, boss battles and a mysterious fourth protagonist.
ZOOPUNK Gameplay Expands the F.I.S.T. Universe
The new footage was presented during gamescom in Cologne, Germany, offering a deeper look at ZOOPUNK and its combat systems.
Developed by Shanghai-based TiGames, a studio backed by Tencent Games, ZOOPUNK is set in the same universe as F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch. The prequel explores the turbulent origins of Torch City, an animal metropolis facing political upheaval and revolution.
The game’s world combines wilderness, advanced machinery and animal civilizations shaped by conflict. Central to the story is the Spark, a mysterious power that influences technology, societies and the struggles unfolding across the setting.
Rayton, Trixie and Braton Demonstrate Different Combat Styles
The extended gameplay showcases three previously revealed heroes, each designed around a distinct approach to combat.
Rayton Battles Machines Aboard a Snowy Air Train
Rayton the Rabbit is shown fighting machine enemies aboard an air train traveling through a snowy environment. He also frees animals being held in prison cages.
Rayton specializes in fast ground and aerial combinations that build energy before allowing players to deploy powerful electrically charged attacks.
Trixie the Chipmunk, meanwhile, leads the group through a green forest where the crew battles rat enemies before traveling toward Marmotter Village to rescue additional animals.
Her combat combines gun-fu, ammunition management, third-person shooting and ranged tactical abilities.
Braton the Rhino serves as the team’s heavier frontline fighter. His fighting style combines chainsaw-based guard-breaking attacks with defensive abilities designed to withstand enemy pressure.
Animal and Machine Boss Battles Take Center Stage
The gamescom presentation also reveals several major combat encounters.
Braton and Trixie face what TiGames describes as the game’s first animal bosses: marmot and otter warriors. Their appearance expands the conflict beyond the animal-versus-machine battles associated with the game’s premise.
Players will also encounter machine bosses at Marmotter Village, adding larger-scale battles to the location.
The broader story is similarly designed around more than a straightforward conflict between animals and machines. Rival animal factions, shifting alliances and differing beliefs about life, consciousness and the soul are expected to contribute to the narrative.
Players Can Switch Between Three Heroes
ZOOPUNK allows players to control a squad of up to three characters and switch between them in real time.
Each hero has a specialized combat system, encouraging players to combine their abilities during encounters. Players can break enemy defenses and coordinate character abilities to execute Combo Skills against more difficult opponents.
The system builds on TiGames’ experience with F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch, which was recognized for its combat mechanics and diesel-punk-inspired setting.
Mysterious Serval Fighter Revealed as Fourth Protagonist
One of the biggest reveals arrives at the end of the extended gameplay footage.
The video briefly introduces a fourth playable protagonist, a Serval fighter equipped with a long blade. TiGames has not yet provided extensive details about the character, leaving the Serval’s identity, abilities and role in the story largely unknown.
The reveal indicates that ZOOPUNK will eventually feature a broader playable roster than the three-character squad demonstrated so far.
ZOOPUNK Is Coming to PC and Consoles
TiGames was founded in 2016 and previously developed Ancient Amuletor VR and F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch. The studio is headquartered in Shanghai and is developing ZOOPUNK for an international audience.
The developer has confirmed that ZOOPUNK will be released for PC and consoles, although specific console platforms, pricing and a launch date have not yet been announced.
With its expanded character roster, real-time hero switching and combination of animal and machine adversaries, ZOOPUNK is positioning itself as a larger exploration of the universe introduced in F.I.S.T. Additional release and platform details are expected to be announced in the future.
