Publisher Wired Productions and developer Glee-Cheese have released the first public demo for MR. RECORDS, a colorful rhythm adventure that combines music-driven platforming with cozy record-store management. The demo is available on Steam ahead of Steam Next Fest in October, while PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions have also been confirmed.
The game was previously announced for PC and Nintendo Switch 2, bringing the planned platform lineup to four systems.
MR. RECORDS Demo Now Available on Steam
The public demo introduces players to George, an older dreamer who decides to break away from his familiar routine and finally open the record store he has always wanted.
During the day, players manage George’s shop, interact with customers and help them find records suited to their tastes. At night, the experience shifts into rhythm-focused adventures inspired by the music George plays.
The demo covers the beginning of George’s story as he prepares to transform his lifelong ambition into reality.
PS5 and Xbox Series X|S Versions Confirmed
Alongside the Steam demo launch, Wired Productions and Glee-Cheese confirmed that MR. RECORDS will also be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Those versions join the previously announced releases for PC and Nintendo Switch 2. Specific launch dates for the full game have not yet been announced.
Every Record Becomes a Playable Musical World
Music serves as both the narrative and gameplay foundation of MR. RECORDS.
When George plays a record, players enter imaginative environments that shift according to the track. Gameplay involves running, jumping, sliding, dodging and chaining actions together in time with the music.
The full game is planned to feature more than 40 handcrafted levels, with each musical journey drawing inspiration from George’s memories, emotions and experiences.
The soundtrack spans several genres, including funk, progressive rock, hip-hop, electro, world music and 1980s pop. The developers composed the game’s original music themselves.
Record Store Management Adds a Cozy Side to Gameplay
Customers Bring Stories and Musical Puzzles
Away from the rhythm sequences, players spend time running George’s record shop.
Customers arrive with different personalities, stories and musical preferences. Players learn about the available records, recommend albums and solve music-related puzzles while gradually expanding the store’s inventory.
Collecting albums is also tied directly to progression, as records can unlock additional musical adventures.
The shop therefore functions as more than a management system, connecting the characters and story to the game’s rhythm-based stages.
George’s Memories Shape the Story
MR. RECORDS uses music, photographs, notes and other discoveries to explore George’s past.
Some memories focus on joyful moments, while others address regret, lost relationships and opportunities he did not pursue earlier in life. The broader narrative centers on dreams, aging and the possibility of changing direction later in life.
Between musical stages, players can return to George’s bedroom above the shop. The area acts as a central hub where players can review memories, track their progress, receive calls and spend time away from the game’s more active sequences.
Rhythm Battles, Minigames and Other Challenges Planned
The developers are also incorporating gameplay variations beyond traditional rhythm-platforming stages.
These include rhythm battles, surreal minigames, environmental changes, chase sequences and visual disruptions designed to alter how individual levels play.
George’s dog, Buzz, will also appear in side activities throughout the adventure.
Together, these elements are intended to provide variety while keeping music at the center of the experience.
Steam Next Fest Appearance Ahead
The MR. RECORDS public demo is available now on Steam, giving players an early look at George’s story before the game’s appearance around Steam Next Fest in October.
With versions planned for PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, MR. RECORDS combines rhythm gameplay, record-store management and a character-driven story about memory, regret and pursuing long-delayed ambitions.
