8BitDo Celebrates 30 Years of Tomb Raider With Special-Edition Controllers
KARLSTAD, Sweden, October 6, 2026 — Game Outlet Europe, an independent distributor of video games and gaming accessories, has confirmed plans to bring two officially licensed Tomb Raider 30th Anniversary controllers to retailers throughout the United Kingdom and European Union.
Developed in collaboration with the Tomb Raider franchise, the controllers commemorate three decades of Lara Croft’s adventures while incorporating modern gaming technology and customizable features.
The anniversary collection includes the 8BitDo Ultimate 3 Controller for Xbox and the 8BitDo Pro 3 Bluetooth Gamepad. Both feature artwork inspired by the franchise’s history and are designed to appeal to players and gaming memorabilia collectors.
8BitDo Ultimate 3 for Xbox Offers Wireless Connectivity and Advanced Controls
The Tomb Raider 30th Anniversary Edition Ultimate 3 Controller is designed for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PCs and compatible mobile devices.
The officially licensed Xbox controller supports 2.4GHz wireless and wired connections for Xbox and PC gaming, along with Bluetooth connectivity for mobile devices.
TMR Thumbsticks and Hall-Effect Triggers Improve Precision
One of the controller’s primary features is its dual Tunnel Magnetoresistance (TMR) thumbsticks, which use magnetic sensing technology to improve input precision and reduce the mechanical wear associated with traditional analog sticks.
The technology is designed to minimize stick drift, a common problem in gaming controllers, although long-term performance will depend on usage and other factors.
The Ultimate 3 also includes Hall-effect impulse triggers with two adjustable trigger stops, allowing players to modify trigger travel for different gaming experiences.
Additional features include two programmable rear buttons, customization options and a polling rate of up to 1,000Hz for supported PC connections.
A Tomb Raider-themed charging dock is included, providing a dedicated charging station that also serves as a display accessory.
8BitDo Pro 3 Bluetooth Gamepad Supports Nintendo Switch, PC and SteamOS
The second controller in the anniversary lineup, the 8BitDo Pro 3 Bluetooth Gamepad, is designed for players who use multiple gaming platforms.
It supports Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 through Bluetooth, 2.4GHz wireless or wired USB connections.
Windows users can connect through 2.4GHz wireless or USB, while SteamOS supports Bluetooth and wired USB connections. Compatible mobile devices can also connect through Bluetooth or USB.
Magnetic ABXY Buttons and Motion Controls Expand Customization
Like the Ultimate 3, the Pro 3 incorporates dual TMR thumbsticks and Hall-effect triggers intended to provide accurate inputs and improved durability.
The controller also features additional R3 and L4 bumper controls, two programmable rear buttons and a tactile directional pad.
A distinctive feature is its interchangeable magnetic ABXY face buttons, allowing players to rearrange button layouts to match different platform configurations.
For Nintendo Switch and SteamOS gaming, the Pro 3 includes six-axis motion controls, supporting games that use motion-based input.
Other features include integrated vibration feedback, a turbo function and a Tomb Raider-themed charging dock.
These capabilities position the Pro 3 as a flexible option for players who regularly switch between console, PC and mobile gaming.
Both Anniversary Controllers Support 8BitDo Customization Software
The Ultimate 3 and Pro 3 are compatible with 8BitDo Ultimate Software X and Ultimate Software V2 Mobile.
The software allows users to adjust controller settings according to their preferences, including supported button configurations and other customizable controls.
This functionality is particularly relevant for players who want to personalize their controllers for different game genres, from action-adventure titles to competitive shooters.
The included charging docks also emphasize the collectible nature of the anniversary editions, combining everyday functionality with artwork commemorating Tomb Raider’s history.
Tomb Raider 30th Anniversary Controllers: Release Date and Pricing
