Publisher Kalypso Media and developer Realmforge Studios have announced a closed beta for Rise of the Spellbaker, an upcoming fantasy action-adventure game scheduled for release in 2027. Players can now register for an opportunity to participate in the testing phase, which will provide early access to the game’s opening hours and allow selected participants to share feedback with the development team.
Rise of the Spellbaker Closed Beta Registration Now Open
Announced on October 22, 2026, the closed beta will introduce selected players to the magical world of Khemia, where ancient baking recipes become powerful spells used to combat dangerous creatures and a mysterious plague.
Participants will gain access to the first several hours of gameplay, including story chapters, enemies, magical abilities, and other features planned for the full release.
The testing period will also allow Realmforge Studios to collect player feedback as development continues toward the game’s scheduled 2027 launch.

Successful participants must complete a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before receiving access to the beta.
The closed beta will be available through Steam for players using Windows 11. The publisher has not specified the number of participants who will be selected or announced an exact testing schedule.
A Fantasy Adventure Combining Magic, Baking and Combat
Rise of the Spellbaker follows a character known as The Witch, who appears to be the last surviving member of her people.
Her journey takes place in Khemia, a once-vibrant fantasy world increasingly consumed by a destructive force known as the Rot.
To restore the land, The Witch must rediscover the forgotten magical practice of Spellbaking, which transforms ingredients and ancient recipes into enchanted pastries with combat abilities.

Spellbaking serves as one of the game’s central mechanics.
Players will collect ingredients, discover recipes, and prepare magical baked goods that can be used against enemies.
Among the announced abilities are the Crescent Wave and Shortcrust Grenade, two examples of the combat-focused creations available through the system.
As players progress, they will expand their magical abilities while uncovering the origins of the Rot and the mysterious force responsible for its spread.
The Rot Transforms Khemia Into a Dangerous World
The Rot is a destructive plague spreading across Khemia, corrupting its environment and threatening nearly every living creature.
Once colorful and welcoming, affected areas have become dark, decaying landscapes populated by hostile enemies.
Among the creatures players will encounter are the Skullopod and Big Mouth, alongside other threats connected to the spreading corruption.
The Witch must navigate these dangerous environments while uncovering the larger mystery surrounding the plague and the antagonist controlling events.
Companions and Village Restoration Expand Gameplay
Beyond combat and exploration, Rise of the Spellbaker includes companion characters and village restoration mechanics.
Players will encounter Hermann, a talking sourdough companion, along with small flour-covered creatures known as Biscies and The Witch’s loyal cat familiar.
These companions will assist during the adventure and contribute to the game’s story.
Rebuild the Witch’s Home and Restore the Village
Players can furnish and decorate The Witch’s house while working to transform the surrounding village into a safe refuge.
The settlement will serve as a place to return to between adventures.
Hermann also plays a role in progression. Feeding him helps restore his memories, potentially revealing additional recipes and information about his connection to The Witch’s home.
These discoveries may provide clues about the Rot and how it can ultimately be defeated.
Multiplayer Supports Up to Six Players
In addition to its single-player adventure, Rise of the Spellbaker will feature cooperative multiplayer.
Players can join forces with up to five other surviving witches, allowing groups of six to work together.
The multiplayer system will enable participants to divide responsibilities, coordinate their efforts, and cooperate in confronting the Rot.
This cooperative element adds another gameplay option alongside the story-driven adventure and village restoration activities.
