Alex Smith leaves Washington match due to right foot problem

Date:

Quarterback Alex Smith left the Washington match against San Francisco on Sunday and was skeptical of returning due to an unknown problem with his right foot.

This was Smith’s leg that broke in two places in November 2018, set him aside for almost two calendar years and required 17 surgeries to repair.

Smith was 57 yards and 19-8, with a pass cut in the first half. He walked into the locker room at the last moment of the second quarter and gave way to Dwayne Haskins. Dwayne Haskins knelt down and ran out of half the time. Haskins was a quarterback in the second half of the year.

Smith returned to action earlier this season and won a fanfare.

In Detroit, Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford was knocked out of Green Bay in the fourth quarter due to a rib injury.

Stafford headed to the team’s locker room, returned to the field to throw a pass, and was again out of sight as the packers had the ball later in the game. Stafford was 244 yards and 34 24 with a touchdown.

Also on Sunday, Miami wide receivers Devante Parker and Jakim Grant were forced to lose the Dolphins to Kansas City Chiefs 33-27 in a confrontation between Patrick Mahomes and Tuatago Viroa. Tight-end Mike Geshitsuki was eliminated in the fourth quarter due to a shoulder injury.

The Chiefs tackle Mike Lemmers, who was left behind with a back injury in the second half.
