Another Eden Begins Brings Time-Travel RPG Adventure to Nintendo Switch and PC This September

Date:

A new chapter in the beloved Japanese role-playing game franchise is set to reach global audiences this fall, as Another Eden Begins prepares for release on Nintendo Switch consoles and PC. Developed by Wright Flyer Studios, the title builds on the success of its predecessor while introducing expanded features, enhanced visuals, and full English voice acting.

A Time-Spanning RPG from Acclaimed Creators

Announced during the Another Eden Spring Festival 2026 in Tokyo, Another Eden Begins is scheduled to launch on September 17, 2026, via Steam and Nintendo Switch platforms.

The project is led by veteran game director Masato Kato, known for his work on genre-defining titles such as Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, and Chrono Cross. The soundtrack features compositions by Yasunori Mitsuda, whose work has been widely recognized in the RPG community, along with additional orchestration from Procyon Studio.

The game is being developed under Studio Prisma, a newer development team founded by Kato and collaborators from the original Another Eden project.

Expanding a Multiverse Narrative

At its core, Another Eden Begins continues the franchise’s hallmark time-travel narrative. Players follow protagonist Aldo on a journey across different eras to rescue his sister, Feinne, while confronting a looming threat that spans the fabric of time itself.

The story builds on the foundation established in Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space, a mobile RPG that has attracted millions of players worldwide since its release in 2017.

Players will encounter more than 18 companions throughout the journey, each with unique backstories and abilities. Relationship-building mechanics allow players to deepen connections through side quests, unlocking additional narrative content and character-specific missions.

Gameplay Focus: Strategy and Replayability

The game retains a turn-based combat system, a staple of traditional Japanese RPGs, while emphasizing strategic party composition and character synergy. Players can activate a special ability known as “Another Force” to deliver powerful attacks capable of shifting the momentum of battles.

A New Game+ mode adds replay value, allowing players to carry over progress, equipment, and experience into subsequent playthroughs. This mode introduces a new character and multiple alternate endings—reportedly up to ten—offering different narrative outcomes depending on player choices.

Enhanced Accessibility for Global Audiences

One of the most notable updates is the inclusion of full English voice acting in the main storyline, a feature aimed at expanding the game’s appeal in North America and other English-speaking markets. The voice cast includes returning performers from the original game, helping maintain continuity for longtime fans.

Language support at launch will include English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese, reflecting the publisher’s focus on global accessibility.

Developer Perspective

Shinnosuke Hirasawa, Head of Studio Prisma, described the project as an evolution of the franchise’s storytelling approach.

“Another Eden continues to be an extraordinary journey, and Another Eden Begins offers a new way to experience that world with enhanced visuals and English voiceovers,” Hirasawa said. “Working with Masato Kato allows us to deliver another emotional story that spans time and space.”

Release Details and Availability

Another Eden Begins will launch on September 17, 2026, for PC via Steam, as well as Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The release positions the game alongside a growing lineup of story-driven RPGs targeting both console and PC audiences in the U.S. market.

Conclusion

With its blend of classic RPG mechanics, cinematic storytelling, and expanded accessibility, Another Eden Begins aims to build on a well-established franchise while reaching a broader international audience. As interest in narrative-driven games continues to grow in the U.S., the title could find a strong foothold among players seeking a story-rich, time-spanning adventure.
