Award-Winning Stealth Adventure KIYO – Bunny Tyranny Arrives June 25 on PC and Nintendo Switch

Date:

Fans of indie stealth games and cyberpunk-inspired adventures will soon have a new title to watch. KIYO – Bunny Tyranny, an upcoming 2D stealth adventure from indie developer PixelRats and publisher CobraTekku Games, is set to launch June 25 for PC via Steam and for the Nintendo Switch.

The game has already generated attention on the European indie circuit, earning positive reactions at gaming events including CAGGTUS Leipzig and winning the FYNG Indie Award through public voting.

A Dystopian Neon City Ruled by Rabbits

Set in the sprawling metropolis of Rabbithole City, KIYO – Bunny Tyranny presents a stylized world where a rabbit-controlled corporation has transformed society into a rigid technocratic dictatorship.

The story follows Kiyo, a cat and former thief who becomes involved in a resistance movement after being recruited by a mysterious owl. Under the rule of the powerful BunnyCorp, non-rabbit citizens live under constant oppression in a city dominated by glowing neon lights, surveillance, and technology-driven control.

The game blends noir storytelling with retro-inspired pixel art aesthetics, creating a visual style reminiscent of cyberpunk classics and densely populated East Asian-inspired megacities often seen in modern science fiction.

Stealth Gameplay Focuses on Strategy Over Combat

Unlike many action-heavy adventure games, KIYO – Bunny Tyranny emphasizes stealth, timing, and tactical decision-making.

Players must carefully move through guarded sections of Rabbithole City while avoiding heavily armed enemies. Direct confrontation is rarely the safest option, encouraging players to rely on distractions, gadgets, and silent takedowns.

Kiyo primarily uses a bow and arrow for precision attacks, while special tools — including tactical carrots used to lure or distract enemies — add a layer of strategic experimentation to gameplay.

The developers describe the experience as a combination of stealth mechanics and puzzle-solving, requiring players to observe their surroundings closely and uncover hidden clues scattered throughout the environment.

Key Features of KIYO – Bunny Tyranny

A Cat Built for Stealth

The game’s central mechanics revolve around quiet movement and infiltration. Kiyo uses shadows, hidden paths, and careful timing to navigate hostile territory without detection.

Tactical Combat and Sabotage

Players can choose when to avoid enemies and when to strike. The game encourages creative problem-solving rather than brute force, with distractions and ambush tactics playing a major role.

Environmental Puzzle Solving

Many areas contain layered puzzles tied to the game’s world design. Players must investigate their surroundings carefully to unlock secure areas and weaken BunnyCorp’s control over the city.

Distinctive Pixel Art and Synthwave Soundtrack

One of the game’s biggest draws is its presentation. Rabbithole City combines detailed pixel-art environments with neon-soaked visuals and an original synthwave soundtrack designed to reinforce the game’s futuristic noir atmosphere.

Indie Developers Continue Expanding the Cyberpunk Genre

The release of KIYO – Bunny Tyranny comes at a time when indie developers are increasingly finding success with stylized cyberpunk and stealth-focused games. While blockbuster studios often dominate major releases, smaller teams have gained attention by delivering unique visual identities and experimental gameplay concepts.

PixelRats consists of a two-person development team that includes an experienced AAA programmer and a visual artist. According to the studio, KIYO – Bunny Tyranny has been in development since 2022 and serves as the team’s debut project.

Meanwhile, CobraTekku Games, founded in 2022, continues to expand its role in supporting independent studios through publishing, marketing, and industry networking.

Release Date and Platforms

KIYO – Bunny Tyranny launches June 25 for PC via Steam and on the Nintendo Switch through the Nintendo eShop.

With its mix of stealth gameplay, satirical world-building, neon-inspired visuals, and puzzle-driven progression, the game aims to stand out in an increasingly crowded indie market while offering players a fresh take on dystopian adventure storytelling.
