Arc System Works has announced that BlazBlue Central Fiction and BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle, two of its fighting games, will benefit from network code restoration technology in the near future. This is software designed to improve the performance of online games, especially in terms of reducing lag. He did it during the CEO 2021 tournament. In the case of Central Fiction, it will arrive in February 2022 and testing will begin tomorrow. For its part, Cross Tag Battle will have to wait and it has not yet been specified when it will be included in the title.
Rollback netcode: past, present and future of online fighting
A few months ago, at Netcost-Security we offered you details about how this technology works. Although it is likely that many users think that we are facing something new, nothing is further from the truth: it was created more than 10 years ago. The main maintainer, Tony Cannon, designed it with the aim of improving the performance of multiplayer games and trying to avoid the dreaded lag, especially in older video games whose infrastructure, today, is insufficient to get the best experience.

The funny thing is that there are not a few large companies, especially in Japan, that even in mid-2021 seem reluctant to use this software. Either way, it is unavoidable to think that restoring network code will not become standard for years to come. After all, it is not acceptable that some games, decades ago, have less problems than others recently released.
BlazBlue Central Fiction, originally released for PS3, is available on PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. For its part, BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle is part of the same platforms.
