Konami Digital Entertainment is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its long-running Castlevania franchise with a series of special releases and promotions, including free access to the original game on mobile devices, discounts of up to 80% on selected titles, new soundtrack releases and an anniversary orchestral concert.
The celebration highlights four decades of the gothic action series, which has followed generations of vampire hunters battling Dracula and other supernatural enemies.
Original Castlevania Goes Free on Mobile for Limited Time
The original Castlevania is available free through the App Store and Google Play for a limited period ending Oct. 24, 2026.
The first installment introduced players to vampire hunter Simon Belmont, who ventures into Dracula’s castle to confront the legendary vampire. Its combination of gothic horror, challenging action and distinctive music established many of the elements that would become trademarks of the franchise.
Over the following decades, Castlevania expanded across numerous gaming platforms, introducing new characters, settings and gameplay systems while retaining its focus on supernatural action and the continuing conflict surrounding Dracula.
Castlevania Games Discounted by Up to 80%
As part of the anniversary campaign, Konami is offering discounts on several Castlevania games and collections across major digital storefronts.
PlayStation Store Sale Runs Through Oct. 7
The PlayStation Store promotion, which began Sept. 23 and runs through Oct. 7, includes several collections from different periods of the franchise.
Castlevania Anniversary Collection is discounted by 80%, while Castlevania Dominus Collection is available at 50% off. Castlevania Advance Collection and Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood are each discounted by 70%.
The collections provide access to games spanning multiple generations of consoles, giving newer players an opportunity to explore earlier entries while allowing longtime fans to revisit titles from the series’ history.
Steam Sale Offers Discounts Through Oct. 1
PC players can also find anniversary discounts through Steam from Sept. 24 through Oct. 1.
The Castlevania Anniversary Collection is discounted by 80%, while the Castlevania Dominus Collection is offered at 50% off. The Castlevania Advance Collection receives a 70% discount, and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Ultimate Edition is available at 80% off.
The limited-time promotions are part of a broader anniversary program covering games, music and merchandise.
Soundtracks and Orchestral Concert Join Anniversary Plans
Konami also announced plans to bring official Castlevania soundtracks to streaming platforms, extending the anniversary celebration beyond the games themselves.
Music has remained a prominent part of the franchise throughout its history, with themes from numerous installments becoming closely associated with the series’ gothic atmosphere and fast-paced action.
The company is also planning the Castlevania 40th Anniversary Orchestral Concert, which will present music from the franchise in a live orchestral format.
Additional commemorative merchandise is also planned as part of the 40th-anniversary lineup.

Since its debut, Castlevania has developed into one of Konami’s most recognizable video game properties. The franchise has appeared across home consoles, handheld systems, PCs and mobile devices while influencing the design of action-adventure games over several generations.
