“Come on, so as not to make anyone jealous, I’ll take the three levers in my hand. Jérémy Matheossian has an eye for detail. Grab the Playstation 5 controller, then the Xbox Series X controller, and finally the Nintendo Switch’s turn. Thus presented, one could imagine oneself in a computer science course with software with unsexy names. And no, these are the main video game consoles of the moment.
Playstation, Xbox or Nintendo? Hard to choose for Jeremy Matheossian.
Le Creusois has all three. Nothing more normal for those who preside over the Republic of Players association. Created in 2016 in the south and then exported to Sainte-Feyre in 2018, it continues to grow. “The goal was to connect all the local video game players to create a real community and organize events. It is much more enjoyable than playing alone in front of your television. “

With around forty members, this fan of FIFA soccer simulation seeks to rally around this passion. He believes that Creuse can also host great events around this cultural medium. Like the Rencontres de Chaminadour of books or various music festivals.
“We must not forget that it is now the best-selling cultural asset in France. We should not believe that it only affects large cities. Departments like Creuse also need to be up to date. ”

Stay up-to-date but also adapt to different generations. Each one has its own peculiarity and its favorite games. “Younger people tend to play Fortnite. Older people like sports games like FIFA or first-person shooter (FPS) games like Call of Duty. “
Become collectors, video game players meet at the geek garage sale in Sainte-Feyre (Creuse)
Various events planned on the subject.
But all this small world of “gamers” manages to get together for big occasions such as, for example, the “geek garage sale” that the Republic of Players organizes every year or even the “24 hours of game” marathon that will take place in early November in La Souterraine. An event organized by the Fairy Play association, another video game player in Creuse since 2013.
The geek garage sale continues to be very successful in Creuse.
Marc-David Chevillion is its president. For him, the game is conjugated in the plural. “In our association, it is the game with a capital J. So there are card games, board games, and of course video games that we are trying to develop more and more of. And this mix of genres allows us to witness beautiful transgenerational exchanges.
“The average age of our members is around thirty, so not necessarily very young. And we also have retirees who like to try video games while playing Belote. Others prefer to play mobile games, therefore on the phone. “

This fan of Final Fantasy, a famous console RPG, is pleased to see the community of players grow year after year in the department. “I already knew that the associative fabric was highly developed in Creuse, but we can always have doubts about what may or may not work for us. The children of the 2000s were born with video games, so in the future there will be even more players and you will have to be there to allow them to get to know each other. “
University students from Thiers (Puy-de-Dôme) create a historical video game for smartphones
Sometimes the meeting place is even … surprising. “In Creuse we have already had video game tournaments in churches. Everyone appreciated it. We even play fighting games like Street Fighter. A nice wink when we know that video games can be a religion among the most faithful. But the latter are still struggling to decide on their “god”. So, more like Mario, Pikachu, or Lara Croft?
