Just Announced: The development studio A44, which is behind the development of the title Ashen, which launched in 2018, is working on a new open-world action RPG, which will be released in 2022. Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is being developed in collaboration with publisher Kepler Interactive.
In the game, we slip into the role of the protagonist Nor Vanek to once again save the fate of mankind. Not only a wide variety of weapons and magic are used, but above all our own animal companion called Enki, who always accompanies us through the world and adventures. Launch in 2022, also in the current generation
Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is slated for release later this year on PC (Epic and Steam), PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One. Additionally, the action RPG will also be available for download. play on Xbox Game Pass on release day. Obviously, A44’s new project isn’t just a next-gen title, but the first moving images from the trailer look pretty. Hopefully once there is gameplay to see, our hopes will be confirmed.
Of course, the fact that Flintlock is scheduled to release in 2022 also means that A44 Games has been working on the game for quite some time. That’s why we get a ton of information directly about the reveal. For example, Derek Bradley, CEO of A44 Games, explains that Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn takes place in a world ruled by ancient gods. We can assume that we will also find them directly in the game.

The gods may have been gone for thousands of years, but their return affects the world to the point of threatening human existence. With the return of the gods, the “door to the afterlife” was opened, which is now open to an army of undead who escaped just that. In the role of Nor, who is a member of the coalition army, we go on a personal campaign together with our little magical companion Enki to put an end to the undead and the gods.
Although Enki looks a bit like a fox on the outside, he doesn’t have much in common with the animal. Enki has magical abilities and knows how to use them in battle to always have the upper hand and actively support Nor. In the revenge campaign we should visit several biomes in the open world of Flintlock. These include cavernous ruins, towering cities, but also plenty of desert sand.
According to Bradley, the game’s setting is based on the “spark fantasy genre” of the same name, which combines gunpowder-powered weapons and technology with dark magic and the powers of the Old Gods. For the first time in the history of action RPGs, humans have gained access to gunpowder and with it the power in their own hands to take on the mightiest beings in creation. The “ultimate showdown” between magic and gunpowder will leave its mark everywhere when you fight this fight in Flintlock in late 2022.
