Samsung unveiled its new Odyssey OLED G8 gaming monitor at IFA 2022. It is the company’s first OLED gaming monitor and comes in a slim 34-inch 1800R curved form factor.1 be available. The newest member of the Samsung Odyssey family is packed with gaming features and has a fast response time of just 0.1ms and a 175Hz refresh rate.

Since the new Odyssey OLED G8 with integrated Quantum Dot technology does not require a backlight, its case is very slim. At its thinnest point, it measures just 3.9mm and offers 100% color volume. This enables high color and brightness accuracy without additional color filters.

Thanks to QHD (3440 x 1440) resolution in 21:9, 100% color volume and 99.3% DCI color gamut, the Odyssey OLED G8 has high image quality. Whether it’s an open world or FPS game: details are perfectly reproduced thanks to the 1,000,000:1 static contrast ratio, 1800R curvature ensures a comfortable field of view for the gamer.

The Odyssey OLED G8 includes a variety of gaming features. This includes VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black certification and AMD FreeSync Premium for smooth gameplay.

The new Odyssey model is both a gaming monitor and a smart TV with access to IPTV servicestwo. Thanks to the integrated Samsung Smart Hub platform, the usual streaming offers such as amazon prime, Netflix, YouTube and access to other providers are already available3. In addition, the Samsung TV Plus app offers free live content without additional downloads or cumbersome registration processes.

The integrated IoT hub checks, controls and monitors all IoT devices wirelessly connected to the monitor with the SmartThings app. Settings such as temperature and humidity can be controlled and adjusted using the app’s intuitive control panel.

Samsung’s new gaming platform, Gaming Hub, is already integrated into the new Odyssey OLED G8. Titles from partners like Xbox, NVIDIA GeForce NOW, Google Stadia, and Utomik are available at launch after subscription. Samsung’s game streaming technology enables smooth viewing and responsive gaming, with no additional downloads or memory requirements.

Gamers in particular need a high degree of ergonomic comfort for long online sessions. With height adjustment (HAS 120mm) and tilt function, every gamer can find their perfect position, whether it’s for an action packed racing game or an open world fantasy adventure.

For an even more intense visual experience, the screen is equipped with the well-known CoreSync and Core Lighting+ from the Odyssey portfolio. The system has been further refined for the Odyssey OLED G8. It sits on the back of the case and controls color rendering in sync with the game on the screen. Additionally, the Odyssey OLED G8 is equipped with Micro HDMI, Mini DP (1.4) and USB-C ports and a 5W stereo speaker for crystal clear sound.

The Odyssey OLED G8 will be available in Germany from October 2022 at an RRP of €1,729.
