Go North Debuts New Gameplay Trailer at Six One Indie Showcase Ahead of 2026 Release

Date:

Independent developer gazuntype unveiled a new gameplay trailer for Go North during the Six One Indie Showcase, offering players a deeper look at the atmospheric maze adventure ahead of its planned Q3 2026 launch. The game is scheduled to release on PC via Steam and on Xbox Series X|S later this year, with a Nintendo Switch version arriving at a later date.

Developed by Nigerian solo creator Tade Ajiboye, Go North blends exploration, puzzle-solving, and meditative gameplay into a visually striking experience centered on navigation and discovery.

Atmospheric Adventure Focuses on Exploration and Serenity

The latest gameplay trailer highlights the game’s peaceful tone and imaginative world design. Players take control of Dara, a lone traveler exploring mysterious labyrinths in search of the elusive Maze God.

Each maze follows one defining rule: the exit is always located to the north. Along the way, players can uncover hidden relics, experimental technologies, and mystical tools that help guide Dara through increasingly surreal environments.

The game’s settings range from winding forests and floating sky islands to maze-like libraries and dream-inspired landscapes.

Unique Traversal Mechanics Add Variety

The trailer also showcases several traversal mechanics designed to make exploration feel fluid and rewarding.

Players can ride inside floating bubbles to survey areas from above, glide across open paths using a moth-inspired hoverboard, and interact with magical systems scattered throughout the environment.

Rather than emphasizing combat or fast-paced action, Go North encourages players to slow down and immerse themselves in the world. The game leans heavily into atmosphere, environmental storytelling, and quiet moments of discovery.

Story Centers on a Wish-Granting Maze God

At the center of the journey is Dara’s search for the Maze God, a mysterious figure believed to control the sprawling labyrinths hidden across the game’s world.

According to the game’s premise, anyone who reaches the Maze God is granted a single wish. That central mystery drives the player through interconnected puzzles and increasingly complex environments.

The title appears to combine elements of exploration-focused indie games with abstract puzzle design, creating an experience aimed at players who enjoy slower-paced adventures and reflective gameplay.

Nigerian Solo Developer Continues Expanding Creative Vision

Go North is being developed by gazuntype, a one-person studio based in Lagos, Nigeria. Studio founder Tade Ajiboye has previously worked on virtual reality projects, including Home VR, and is known for creating unconventional interactive experiences that blend artistic direction with experimental game mechanics.

Ajiboye’s work often avoids traditional genre structures in favor of more emotionally driven and immersive gameplay concepts.

The release of Go North at the Six One Indie Showcase also highlights the growing international visibility of independent developers from emerging gaming markets, including Africa’s expanding game development scene.

Release Window and Platforms

Go North is currently scheduled for release in Q3 2026 on Steam for PC and Xbox Series X|S. A Nintendo Switch version is planned for a future date, though no launch window has been confirmed.

Players interested in the game can already add it to their Steam wishlist ahead of launch.

Indie Showcase Highlights Growing Interest in Atmospheric Games

The new trailer positions Go North as one of several upcoming indie titles focused on relaxing exploration and emotionally driven storytelling rather than competitive gameplay.

As atmospheric adventure games continue gaining popularity among players looking for slower, more immersive experiences, Go North stands out for its minimalist design philosophy and visually tranquil world.

With its calming tone, maze-based exploration, and distinctive artistic direction, the game is shaping up to be one of the more intriguing indie releases expected later in 2026.
