Honeycomb Aeronautical Expands Flight Simulation Hardware to Xbox With New Echo Aviation Controller XPC

Date:

New Flight Controller Brings Professional-Grade Flight Simulation Controls to Xbox and PC

Flight simulation enthusiasts on Xbox will soon have access to a new controller designed specifically for virtual aviation. Honeycomb Aeronautical, a company known for its professional-grade flight simulation hardware, has announced the Echo Aviation Controller XPC, a new device that extends the company’s flight control technology to console gamers while maintaining compatibility with PC platforms.

The controller is designed for use with flight simulation titles such as Microsoft Flight Simulator and aims to deliver advanced aircraft controls without requiring a dedicated cockpit setup or multiple peripherals.

Honeycomb Brings Flight Simulation Beyond the Desktop

Xbox Players Gain Access to Specialized Flight Controls

Based in Schwerte, Germany, Honeycomb Aeronautical unveiled the Echo Aviation Controller XPC on June 30, 2026. The announcement follows the launch of the original Echo Aviation Controller, which was introduced for PC users late last year.

According to the company, the new XPC version allows Xbox users to enjoy a more immersive flight simulation experience from a living room environment rather than being tied to a desk-based setup.

The controller is expected to begin shipping in fall 2026.

Designed for Precision and Convenience

Multiple Aircraft Controls Integrated Into One Device

While the Echo Aviation Controller XPC resembles a traditional game controller, it incorporates a range of dedicated flight simulation functions typically found on separate hardware devices.

The controller combines pitch, roll, yaw, throttle, trim controls, and key aircraft systems into a single unit. This integrated design is intended to simplify flight simulation while still providing the precision required for complex aircraft operations.

Advanced Sensor Technology Supports Accurate Control

Honeycomb says the controller uses Tunnel Magnetoresistance (TMR) sensors and Hall Effect sensor technology to improve precision and durability.

A precision analog thumbstick handles pitch and roll inputs, while rear-mounted rudder paddles provide yaw control without the need for external foot pedals. The system is designed to offer a more realistic flying experience while maintaining the convenience of a handheld controller.

Features Target Both Casual and Dedicated Flight Sim Users

Built-In Throttle Levers and Aircraft Systems

Among the controller’s notable features are four independently assignable throttle levers, complete with exchangeable caps and detents for use with both single-engine and multi-engine aircraft.

The device also includes an integrated trim wheel for in-flight adjustments, along with dedicated controls for landing gear, flaps, and parking brakes. These physical controls reduce reliance on keyboard shortcuts and menu navigation.

Compact Design Supports Living Room Gaming

The Echo Aviation Controller XPC is designed with portability and space efficiency in mind. Its compact form factor makes it suitable for players who may not have room for larger flight simulation hardware setups.

By combining multiple flight controls into a single device, Honeycomb aims to make flight simulation more accessible to users who prefer gaming from a couch or entertainment center environment.

Company Sees Opportunity to Expand the Flight Simulation Audience

Honeycomb Plans Broader Console Expansion

Marc Küpper, Chief Technology Officer at Honeycomb Aeronautical, said the company views the Xbox launch as a significant step toward bringing flight simulation to a wider audience.

“The Echo Aviation Controller has already allowed flight simulation enthusiasts to free themselves from the desk and onto the couch when playing on a PC, and we are delighted to bring this revolutionary controller to Xbox gamers and enthusiasts with the launch of the Echo Aviation Controller XPC,” Küpper said.

“We’re committed to broadening the audience for flight simulation, allowing console owners to experience the thrill of flight in a more relaxed environment, and the Echo Aviation Controller XPC is our first flight into consoles but certainly will not be the last.”

Availability and Release Timeline

Shipping Expected to Begin in Fall 2026

Honeycomb Aeronautical expects the Echo Aviation Controller XPC to begin shipping in fall 2026. The controller will support both Xbox and PC platforms, giving users flexibility across multiple gaming environments.

Looking Ahead

As flight simulation continues to grow in popularity among both casual gamers and aviation enthusiasts, the Echo Aviation Controller XPC represents a move toward more accessible and streamlined hardware. By bringing advanced flight controls to Xbox while maintaining PC compatibility, Honeycomb Aeronautical is expanding the options available to players seeking a more immersive virtual flying experience without the complexity of a traditional simulator setup.
