It will not turn off, confirms Google after false rumor

Will Google Stadia be shut down in the coming months? According to the technology company, there is no truth to this statement. Instead, work continues to bring “great games” to the platform.

In recent days, the rumor has been circulating that Google Stadia will be deactivated at the end of summer. This claim comes from a Facebook group of the user “Donny Jepp”, who allegedly had contact with a Google employee. The rumor was then picked up by Twitter user “Killed by Google”:

Rumors were already going around

He would have liked to know: At a seminar in California, the tech company is said to have discussed the exit plan for its streaming service. Therefore, it is planned to turn off Google Stadia at the end of summer. In any case, this assumption went around and was discussed both on Reddit and on Twitter.

Due to this rumor, a Twitter user personally asked Google. And in fact there was soon after an answerwhich reads: “Stadia isn’t shutting down. Rest assured, we’re always working to bring more great games to the platform and Stadia Pro. Let us know if you have any more questions.”

Either way, the Facebook user’s statements were inconclusive. He likened the alleged shutdown to the end of Google Play Music, after which users are given a month or two’s notice. However, users of the music service had several months to switch to YouTube Music. Also, subscribers should not be moved to another platform, as was the case with GPM.

Regardless, there will be some game releases beyond the summer. For example, “FIFA 23” is due out on September 30 and will be available alongside Stadia for all consoles and PC.

Additional Google Stadia news:

In addition to the response quoted above, Google Stadia also posted its own post on Twitter. In it, those responsible show humor and parody the rumor described. So, after a long seminar in California, the company made a momentous decision: “Simply put, you can now play Wavetale on Stadia Pro at no additional cost until August 1.”
