Reportedly, Naughty dog is working on a new version of The last of us for PS5. Bloomberg claims in its report that Sony’s graphics studio was initially working on a new version of the 2012 title before Naughty Dog took control of the project.
The report also confirms rumors that a new Uncharted game is in the works, stating that the Visual Arts group has been commissioned to work on a multiplayer game. Meanwhile, another studio is working on a new game under the supervision of Naughty Dog.
PS5: Naughty Dog has yet to confirm the report
According to the report, Visual Arts also presented Sony with a Redo from the first game Unexplored for PS5. “The idea quickly faded because it was too expensive; instead, the team opted for a remake of The Last of Us, “the report reads. The visual arts studio plans to make the The Last of Us remake look like The last of us 2, which was already in development at the time.
Sony would have already accepted the project, which has decided to keep it a secret with the codenamed T1X. When commitments were changed to help develop The Last of Us 2, the remake would be left under the control of Naughty Dog.
Although Naughty Dog has not confirmed that they are working on a remake of The Last of Us, director Neil Druckmann revealed earlier this year that the team is working on “several cool things” for PS5. If the Bloomberg report is accurate, one of those projects is the remake of The Last of Us.
At the moment, neither Sony nor Naughty Dog have confirmed that these games are in the works.
