Nintendo officially launches Dr. Mario World game for iOS devices

Date:

Two years after its release, Nintendo officially closed the Dr. Mario World game for iOS devices. This is another game that the Japanese company gave up after only a few years.

The closing of Dr. Mario World was not a surprise to its small user base, as the company had already announced in July that the game would be available until October 31, 2021. At that time, the company wrote:

“Thank you for playing the Dr. Mario World game,” Nintendo noted. “The Dr. Mario World gaming service will end on November 1, 2021 (Monday). We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has played the game since its entry into service on July 10, 2019. “

Yesterday, through the Dr. Mario World Twitter account, three of the game viruses announced that the service was officially canceled:

Blue: “Tomorrow marks the end of the Dr. Mario World gaming service. ”

Jaune: “Thank you all so much for playing! ”

Red: “The game will not be playable, but remember that you can return to a web page that is being configured. Good luck there! »#DrMarioWorld

In early July, the company announced that after November 1, it planned to create a Dr. Mario World Memories web page, which would be available after the game’s service ended, and would be a way for players to review their memories. . With the game. .

“To enable the provision of the Dr. Mario World Memories service, a part of your player’s history will be saved on the server so that it can be consulted in Dr. Mario World Memories.

If you want to delete your player history, go to Delete saved data in the app and delete your save data.

Dr. Mario World is one of the few mobile games that Nintendo has abandoned over the years. For now, Miitomo (2016), Pokémon Duel (2016) and Pokémon Rumble Rush (2019) have been discontinued by the company.

It’s also worth noting that Pokémon Shuffle Mobile (2015) and Pokémon: Magikarp Jump (2017) haven’t received any updates for years, and their developers have no plans to add more features to these games.

Since Nintendo started releasing mobile games, it has seen big hits like Super Mario Run (2016), Fire Emblem Heroes (2017), and of course Pokémon Go (2016), which recently surpassed $ 5 billion in revenue after. of five years. of its launch. . The company is now betting on Pokémon UNITE, launched a few months ago.
