Acer announced two new gaming monitors at its global press conference, the Acer Predator XB273K LV with UHD and 160Hz and the Acer Nitro XV272U RV, which is significantly cheaper than its big brother.

The Predator XB273K LV stands 27 inches tall and offers “4K” 3840 x 2160 resolution in combination with a high refresh rate of 160Hz. This supports Adaptive Sync for VRR from Nvidia and AMD systems, with “FreeSync AMD’s Premium” certification is used. The screen is based on an IPS panel and offers a minimum response time of 0.5 ms (G2G), which as usual should be taken with a grain of salt. Other specs include 400 cd/m brightness (600 peak in HDR mode), 178/178-degree viewing angles, 8-bit+FRC color depth, and a wide color gamut said to cover 95 percent. of DCI-P3.

HDMI 2.1 is announced, although relevant features such as HDMI-VRR are not mentioned. We’re expecting it to support 120Hz UHD for consoles, though again at what bandwidth and color levels it’s unknown. There are 2 HDMI 2.1 ports here, along with 1 DisplayPort 1.4 (DSC not mentioned, but we’re guessing it’s used). There’s also USB Type-C (65W power delivery listed, but no DP alternate mode) and a 4-port USB hub too.

The screen is also VESA DisplayHDR 600 certified, meaning you can expect easy local dimming when edge-lit, along with a wide color gamut and 10-bit color depth. A factory calibration with dE <1 is also included. There are also two built-in 2W speakers and an audio output, and the stand offers a variety of ergonomic adjustments, including tilt, height, swivel, and swivel. The Predator XB273K LV will be available in Q3 starting at $999 in North America and €949 in Germany.

Acer Nitro XV272U RV: cheap WQHD monitor?

Another announced gaming monitor is the Nitro XV272U RV, which is also 27-inch, but this time with a 2560 x 1440 resolution and 170Hz refresh rate. It’s powered by Adaptive-Sync for VRR from Nvidia systems and AMD using AMD “FreeSync Premium” Certification The 170Hz refresh rate is supported by an overclocking feature, which the press release says assumes a native 144Hz panel. It will be an IPS panel with a response time of 1 ms (G2G) used. The display offers 400 nits brightness, 178/178 viewing angle, 8-bit color depth, and a wide color gamut with 95% DCI-P3 coverage. Like the previous model, this one too comes factory calibrated to dE <1. 1x DisplayPort 1.2 and 2x HDMI 2.0 connections are offered, as well as an audio output. In addition, 2x 2W speakers are integrated and the stand offers a range of ergonomic adjustment options such as tilt, height, pan and rotation. The Acer Nitro XV272U RV will be available in Q3 starting at $449 in North America and €399 in Germany.
