Kurz made no remark. The 35-year-old wrote his Xmas greetings on Twitter, somewhat uncommon, in English: “Delighted #Xmas, calming holiday seasons and a affluent New Year to all!”

Kurz resigned as federal chancellor in Oct following allegations of corruption. He and some of his closest political colleagues are claimed to have utilised taxpayer money to fee polls to pave the way for the Chancellery.

Kurz denies all the allegations. At first he remained as head of the conservative ÖVP and leader of the parliamentary group, but in early December he abruptly announced his resignation from all positions.

Prior to that, he and his girlfriend had turn out to be mothers and fathers. The delivery of her son adjusted her point of view, she reported, and prevented her from returning to politics. Kurz was in the limelight for ten years, as secretary of state, international minister, and finally chancellor. (dpa)
