SILENT HILL f Tops 2 Million Units Sold Worldwide as Franchise Momentum Continues

Date:

Konami says the latest entry in its long-running horror franchise is continuing to gain traction globally, with SILENT HILL f surpassing 2 million units shipped less than a year after launch. The company also announced that SILENT HILL 2 Remake has crossed 6 million total players, underscoring renewed interest in psychological horror games across console and PC platforms.

SILENT HILL f Reaches Major Global Sales Milestone

Released on Sept. 25, 2025, SILENT HILL f launched for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store. According to Konami’s internal tracking data, cumulative worldwide shipments exceeded 2 million units as of April 22, 2026, including both physical and digital sales.

The title marks a major creative shift for the franchise, becoming the first mainline SILENT HILL game set in Japan. Built around the concept “Find the beauty in terror,” the game blends psychological horror with traditional Japanese aesthetics and storytelling themes.

Players take control of Hinako Shimizu, a high school student living in the fictional town of Ebisugaoka. As the town becomes engulfed in fog and descends into chaos, players must uncover mysteries, survive hostile encounters, and make decisions that shape Hinako’s fate.

The game’s darker atmosphere and emotionally driven narrative have resonated with longtime horror fans, particularly as survival horror titles continue to see a resurgence in the U.S. gaming market alongside franchises like Resident Evil and Alan Wake.

Acclaimed Creators Helped Shape the Game

The story for SILENT HILL f was written by Japanese visual novel creator Ryukishi07, best known for the When They Cry series. Creature and character designs were handled by artist kera, while the soundtrack features contributions from longtime SILENT HILL composer Akira Yamaoka and composer Kensuke Inage.

Konami says the game has earned strong critical and fan reception worldwide. In Japan, SILENT HILL f won three awards at the Famitsu Dengeki Game Awards 2025, including the fan-voted Game of the Year honor.

The title also received multiple nominations internationally, including three categories at The Golden Joystick Awards 2025 and four nominations at The Game Awards 2025.

Growing Demand for Psychological Horror Games

The strong performance of SILENT HILL f reflects broader demand for narrative-driven horror experiences, especially among players looking for cinematic storytelling and atmospheric gameplay rather than fast-paced multiplayer titles.

In recent years, horror games have become increasingly prominent in North America, with publishers investing heavily in remakes, reboots, and story-focused experiences designed for current-generation hardware.

SILENT HILL 2 Remake Surpasses 6 Million Players

Konami also confirmed that SILENT HILL 2 Remake has now surpassed 6 million total players worldwide as of April 24, 2026.

The figure includes shipped units, digital downloads, and users accessing the game through subscription services.

Originally praised for its visual overhaul, enhanced sound design, and expanded exploration areas, the remake introduced the classic 2001 horror title to a new generation of players. Updated combat mechanics and modernized gameplay systems also helped broaden the game’s appeal beyond longtime franchise fans.

The success of the remake has reinforced the commercial viability of modern horror remakes, a trend that has become increasingly common across the gaming industry.

Dual Pack Discount Now Available

Konami also announced that the SILENT HILL 2 & SILENT HILL f Dual Pack is currently available on the PlayStation Store at a 40% discount.

The promotion arrives as the publisher continues expanding the visibility of the franchise following several years of renewed development activity, including new games, multimedia projects, and collaborations.

The SILENT HILL Franchise Continues Its Revival

First introduced in 1999, the SILENT HILL franchise became one of the defining names in psychological horror gaming through its unsettling environments, symbolic storytelling, and emotional themes.

Over the decades, the series expanded beyond video games into films, spin-offs, and other media adaptations, maintaining a dedicated global fan base.

With SILENT HILL f achieving strong sales and SILENT HILL 2 Remake continuing to attract millions of players, Konami appears to be building sustained momentum for one of gaming’s most influential horror franchises.
