Turok: Origins Extended Story Trailer Reveals Dinosaur and Alien War Ahead of Spring 2027 Launch

Date:

Saber Interactive has released an extended version of the Turok: Origins story trailer shown during gamescom Opening Night Live, offering a closer look at the return of the long-running dinosaur-hunting franchise. The sci-fi shooter is scheduled to launch in Spring 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.

Turok: Origins Returns to the Lost Lands

Developed and published by Saber Interactive in collaboration with Universal Products & Experiences, Turok: Origins brings the franchise back with a new story, modern visuals and a mix of first-person and third-person combat.

The story centers on the Order of the Turok, a group of powerful guardians fighting to protect humanity from the Xenia, an alien threat seeking to destroy human life across the galaxy.

Players will travel through the dangerous Lost Lands while confronting dinosaurs, alien forces and other hostile creatures. The extended trailer provides a broader look at the conflict and the environments players will encounter during the campaign.

Solo and Online Co-Op Gameplay

Turok: Origins can be played as a solo adventure or cooperatively with friends online.

Co-op gameplay will require players to combine combat abilities and tactics while facing dinosaurs, alien enemies and large-scale boss encounters. The developers say teamwork will become particularly important during some of the game’s more demanding battles.

The game is designed around fast-paced action, with players able to switch between different weapons and supernatural Turok abilities.

Futuristic Weapons and Turok Powers

Players will have access to an extensive collection of weapons that can be unlocked and upgraded throughout the campaign.

The arsenal includes plasma rifles, sniper weapons, bows, shotguns and experimental alien technology, giving players multiple approaches to combat.

Another major component is the Turok power system. Players can collect Echoes to unlock abilities that modify their combat style, improve existing strengths and provide additional advantages against enemies.

The combination of weapons and abilities is intended to give players greater flexibility when approaching different enemy types and encounters.

Lost Lands Feature Jungles, Ruins and Alien Environments

Exploration will remain an important part of the Turok experience.

The Lost Lands will feature environments ranging from dense jungles and ancient ruins to unfamiliar alien landscapes. Hidden areas and secrets scattered throughout these locations will help reveal more about the world and the larger mystery behind humanity’s fight for survival.

Dinosaurs remain central to the franchise, but Turok: Origins expands the threat beyond prehistoric creatures with alien forces and massive bosses.

Turok Franchise Returns Nearly 30 Years After Its Gaming Debut

The Turok video game franchise began in 1997 with Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, which was based on the comic book character of the same name.

The original game became particularly associated with the Nintendo 64 era and was followed by several sequels, including Turok 2: Seeds of Evil and Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion. Both titles have since received modern remasters from Nightdive Studios.

Turok: Origins represents a larger modernization of the series rather than a remaster of an earlier entry. Saber Interactive says the project is intended to preserve the action-oriented identity of Turok while introducing a new story and contemporary gameplay systems.

Saber Interactive Leads Turok: Origins Development

Saber Interactive has worked on a range of original and licensed games, including Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, World War Z, SnowRunner, Jurassic Park: Survival and John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando.

The developer has also contributed to major projects including Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Crysis Remastered and the Nintendo Switch version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

For Turok: Origins, Saber is working with Universal Products & Experiences to bring the established property to current-generation gaming platforms.

Turok: Origins Coming in Spring 2027

Turok: Origins is currently available to wishlist for PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is also planned.

No specific release date beyond the Spring 2027 launch window has been announced.

With cooperative play, customizable Turok abilities, futuristic weapons and the franchise’s signature dinosaur encounters, Turok: Origins represents a major attempt to introduce the series to a new generation while maintaining elements familiar to longtime fans.
