In the summer of 2022, Ballads of Hongye will be another city building simulation on Steam. However, the title from the Chinese developer studio Seasun Games should differ significantly from other games in the genre. One reason for us to take a closer look at this insider tip.
Over the last few weeks and months we’ve already featured a number of city builders in our Steam Insider Tips section. While in the indie game Builder of the city of Urbek the management of raw materials in the Minecraft aspect is in the foreground, enter Laysara: Summit Kingdom on the steep slopes of the mountains with a fascinating Unreal Engine look. With Ballads of Hongye, another city building simulation is now in the starting blocks, which according to the developers should be unique.
How is Ballads from Hongye different?
In most city builders we are less pressed for time. Rather, it is more important to develop the correct strategy to advance your own cities in all aspects. In Ballads of Hongye, too, a certain tactic must be prepared, but also we only have a limited time available to complete certain challenges. This means that we take care of the finances, the expansion of our city and also the welfare of the residents within a certain period of time. In addition, each decision, no matter how small, can bring a completely different result. So the goal is to quickly weigh which priorities seem most important to our city and whether the wishes of our people are possibly insignificant.
If we ever miss the challenge time limit, our accumulated resources in this section will be lost. However, by passing these tasks, we unlock blueprints for various types of Chinese buildings. We have a total of over 150 of these oriental buildings to choose from.
The exact release date of Ballads of Hongye is not yet known. So far, the developers say they are targeting a summer 2022 release. Also, according to Steam, the game only supports Chinese voice acting. The menu and subtitles must be adjustable in English.
