Unplayed games: That’s how high the “heap of shame” is for German gamers

Date:

Lots of good games, but not enough time to play them all. Most gamers are familiar with this problem. Until it’s their turn to play newly acquired video games, they often end up on the so-called “pile of shame.” In the age of digital game libraries, these are no longer literal heaps, but games left intact on the hard drive.

Statista wanted to know how high the “shame heap” is for Germans and so asked them in a survey about the number of unplayed games in their possession. According to the survey, 30 percent of those surveyed have up to four games to look forward to. For 12 percent, the “shame heap” consists of five to nine games. For 13 percent, a similar number still have 10 to 49 games to go. Four percent of survey participants have the “heap of shame.” one Number of about 50 to 99 video games: about three percent even go further.

However, among the video game enthusiasts in Germany there are also exemplary gamers who have already played all the games in their library and are only gradually adding new games. However, most gamers in Germany cannot demonstrate this discipline and continue to happily hoard video games, mainly due to frequent sales campaigns (eg Steam sales).
