Apple’s iPhone 12 lineup suffers from serious SMS messaging issues
Discovered by MacRumorsMany users report that the SMS messaging on the new iPhone 12 model is broken. Complaints can range from being unable to send or receive SMS, missing messages in group chat, or not receiving SMS messages. This issue also seems to apply to some older models.
As a result, the official @applesupport Twitter account Lit up By frustrated users:

Interestingly, some older iPhone owners seem to have this problem bubbling under the surface. Introducing iOS14.. However, the problem seems to have spread only with the launch of the new iPhone 12 model. Apple hasn’t recognized it yet.

I’ve contacted Apple and will update this article as soon as I get a reply. In the meantime, given the serious consequences of not receiving SMS messages ( Two-factor authentication), Buyers considering the iPhone 12 model are advised to postpone the purchase until this is fixed.
