Gonsolin has been struggling until this postseason, allowing eight runs in 7⅔ innings. If the unsightly 9.39 ERA wasn’t bad enough, he walked seven of the 36 batters he faced in October and then only seven times to the 176 batters he faced during the regular season.
But those outings for Gonsolin were sporadic. He planned to launch Game 4 of the NLDS, but the Dodgers swept San Diego in three games. As such, his post-season appearance in Game 2 of the NLCS took place 17 days after the last game. The timing of its start was also a bit rushed, and Gonsolin originally planned to start Game 4, but was pushed up once. Clayton Kershaw I was scratched by a cramp in my back.
Gonsolin was supposed to be a bulk relief in Round 7 of the NLCS, but it wasn’t effective enough to last long and was pulled after 11 batters. After all, it was a winner-taking game.A legitimate sense of urgency to overcome Braves I saw the Dodgers use three different starting pitchers on a short outing in Round 7.
The Dodgers didn’t have a pitcher who was completely rested, so it created a challenge for Game 2 of the World Series. With Gonsolin Dustin May Each pitched, but neither pitched very long during the two-day break, which was essentially a bullpen match. Gonsolin started, allowed home runs and walks, and was pulled after only six batters.
It was a frustrating night, but Gonsolin will take a five-day break on Tuesday. This is the most common routine he has done for over a month.

Gonsolin was one of the best pitchers throughout the Dodgers season. He posted the team’s highest 2.29 FIP, 2.31 ERA after the car show, and a 46 to 7 strikeout to walk ratio. His worthy running average of 3.55 (DRA, in the baseball outlook) 24th in Major League Baseball with over 30 innings, Sandwiched between Gerrit Cole And Sonny gray.. The car show was 3.40.
On Monday’s holidays, the Dodgers give Gonsolin a complete rescuer at his disposal. It puts Gonsolin in the actual position to succeed. Now it’s up to him to actually do it.
Dave Roberts Said Walker Buehler Starting a three-day rest in Game 6 was not considered. This makes sense given that he has never been and Buehler is handling two blisters with his right hand. The same is true for Game 2. This may have streamlined the rotation a bit, but at risk for the eyelash curler.
If you need to start Round 7 on Wednesday, let Buehler take a complete rest. Or, you know, don’t use him at all.
“I don’t think anyone is thinking about Round 7,” Roberts said on Sunday night. “We will enjoy tomorrow as a day off, rest everyone and focus on Game 6. I hope Gonsolin will start and win. That’s all we are thinking about.”
