TiGames unveiled a new trailer for ZOOPUNK during gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live, giving players a closer look at the upcoming third-person action RPG and its expanded Animal Punk universe. The game serves as a prequel to F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch and is planned for release on PC and consoles.
ZOOPUNK Expands the World of F.I.S.T.
Set decades before the events of F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch, ZOOPUNK explores the origins of Torch City during a period of political unrest, technological upheaval and growing conflict.
The game follows a cast of animal heroes in a world where advanced machinery, wilderness and rival civilizations collide. Central to the setting is the Spark, a mysterious source of power that influences technology, societies and the conflicts shaping the region.
The Machine Legion remains a major threat, but TiGames says the story will move beyond the simple animal-versus-machine conflict seen in the earlier title. Rival animal factions, shifting alliances and different beliefs about consciousness and the soul will play a larger role.
Gamescom Trailer Shows New Environments
The Opening Night Live trailer showcased several locations, including dense forests, industrial environments and airborne ships.
It also offered the first look at animal-based enemy bosses, marking a notable change from the previous game’s emphasis on machine enemies.
TiGames is also preparing an additional five-minute gameplay presentation for the IGN Show following the gamescom reveal.
Three Playable Heroes Feature Distinct Combat Styles
Combat is built around the individual traits of each playable character, with every hero offering a different approach to movement, attacks and battlefield control.
Rayton the Rabbit focuses on speed and close-range combat. He can perform aerial combinations to build energy before releasing electrically charged attacks.
Braton the Rhino is designed as the team’s heavy fighter. Armed with a large chainsaw, he combines powerful attacks with defensive abilities and is intended to serve as a frontline character.
Trixie the Chipmunk relies on mobility, acrobatics and ranged attacks. Her combat style blends gun-based action with hit-and-run tactics and ammunition management.
Mysterious Fourth Character Teased
The trailer also briefly introduced a fourth protagonist, a serval whose identity and role have not yet been revealed.
TiGames has left the character unexplained for now, adding another mystery to the game’s broader story.
The combination of multiple protagonists and different combat systems is intended to give players more flexibility in how they approach encounters.
ZOOPUNK Focuses on Dynamic Action RPG Combat
TiGames is positioning ZOOPUNK as a larger evolution of the combat systems introduced in F.I.S.T.
Each playable hero is designed around a distinct combat rhythm rather than functioning as a simple visual alternative. Players will need to make use of movement, combos, defensive skills and character-specific mechanics depending on the situation.
The game’s environments are also expected to play an important role in both exploration and storytelling, with areas shaped by the wider conflict between technology, nature and competing factions.
ZOOPUNK Appears at Gamescom 2026
Beyond the Opening Night Live presentation, ZOOPUNK is being demonstrated at gamescom in Cologne.
TiGames is showcasing the latest build in the business area with support from Tencent Games. Behind-closed-doors demonstrations are being held for media during the event.
The demo stations use GeForce RTX 5080 PCs supplied through ALTERNATE and NVIDIA, along with Razer gaming peripherals including the Razer Wolverine controller and Razer BlackShark headset.
PC and Console Release Planned
ZOOPUNK is currently confirmed for PC and consoles, although TiGames has not yet announced a release date or a complete list of supported platforms.
The game builds on the studio’s previous work with F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch, while moving the series into an earlier period of the Animal Punk timeline with new characters, factions and environments.
With three confirmed playable heroes, a mysterious fourth protagonist and a broader conflict involving animals, machines and competing civilizations, ZOOPUNK is shaping up as a significant expansion of TiGames’ established universe.
