More expensive iPad users complain about the “green” problem

Date:

Apple launched its new iPad Pro internationally on Friday, May 21, 2021. However, users of the more expensive iPad model began to complain about a nasty screen problem.

The 12.9-inch iPad Pro uses a new mini-LED panel, while the cheaper 11-inch iPad Pro uses a regular IPS screen with traditional LED backlighting. According to Apple, the specially designed mini-LEDs are 120 times smaller than the previous generation.

It is the new technology that is blamed for the appearance of a strange green glow on the sides of the screen and, in particular, in the local dimming zones. More than 10,000 mini-LED display diodes are grouped into local dimming zones; there are more than 2,500 of them. This allows you to adjust the screen brightness in each zone based on content and get an impressive 1,000,000: 1 contrast ratio.

An inappropriate green tint can appear not only on the sides, but also elsewhere on the screen. It is noted that the problem with the green glow may be the result of the technology itself, but the reason may also be in the assembly. In either case, both causes cannot be resolved with a software update.

In Russia, prices for a new 12.9-inch iPad Pro start at 106,990 rubles for a version with Wi-Fi and 128 GB of flash memory and can reach 219,990 rubles for a 2 TB version with support for Wi-Fi and 5G / LTE. ..
