A little more than five years since the launch of Supervision; while many fans are probably waiting for it Overwatch 2, the title is about to get a big update. Blizzard has confirmed that Overwatch will soon receive the cross game, which will allow players personal computer, Change, Xbox One, Playstation 4, Playstation 5 me Xbox Series X to play against each other.
This is a big step forward for Overwatch, but there are some limitations and requirements that Overwatch players will want to know about before diving in. For starters, one thing to keep in mind is the fact that while cross-play is coming to Overwatch, cross-progression will not.
Overwatch 2: no details on release date
When crossover play is activated, console players will have to create a Battle.net account and link it to their console account, regardless of the platform they are playing on. PC gamers, on the other hand, won’t have to do anything because they already have Battle.net accounts.
Blizzard says that crossover play will be enabled for all modes, although there are some exceptions for competitive games. In competitive games, console players will be placed in a group of playerswhile PC players will be in their own group. There is also a distinction between console and PC players in all other modes. However, in non-competitive game modes, console players can play with PC players.
Console players also have the option to deactivate fully crossover play, in which case they will only be paired with players on the same console. PC players will not be able to disable crossover play. To celebrate the eventual launch of crossover play, Blizzard will distribute a Golden Boot for everyone who signs into Overwatch by the end of 2021.
