Google Play Games: Android games arrive in beta on PC in three countries

Date:

Google formalizes the arrival of Android games on Windows with the opening of a beta phase. Reserved for three countries located in Asia, it should soon be extended to other regions.

Important announcement from Google at the end of 2021, the arrival of its Android video game store on Windows is confirmed. It only took the Mountain View giant a month to start offering its Google Play Games app on Microsoft’s operating system. While the Redmond group is also planning Android apps and games on Windows 11 in partnership with Amazon, Google has also decided to try its luck.

A beta phase has been launched in South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan and “everyone who lives there will be able to register on the waiting list”. Seen by gadget, the information was confirmed by the head of Android, Hiroshi Lockheimer, on the social network Twitter. « Windows fans: Google Play Games Beta on your PC [est disponible] in Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan. (Everyone else, stay tuned. Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about you)”, he wrote. If France is not worried yet, a French page is now available to introduce the beta version of Google Play Games.

Google confirms that its application allows access to “certain mobile games” to play it on the big screen of a Windows laptop or desktop. These titles can be played with keyboard and mouse with the promise of more control or even better graphics. The American firm also promises a “perfect timing” between the different devices, thus offering the possibility to start a game on your smartphone and find it on your PC. The rewards, called Google Play Points, are taken into account and can be used on the desktop “the same way as on your mobile device”.

  • Gaming-friendly GPU
  • 8 logical core processor
  • 8 Go RAM
  • Windows administrator account
  • Hardware virtualization must be enabled
  • PC device and compatible configuration

Unsurprisingly, the service can be accessed from Windows 10 or its successor, Windows 11.

Launching in other regions later this year

Finally, Google indicates that Play Games will be available in a stable version during the year 2022. The service will be offered first in the regions where the beta has been launched before being extended to other countries.
