After two failed attempts last weekend, Babos Gaming take home their first major national title in 6 years, winning the first SEL series tournament in CS:GO.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Spring Series began in March. The competition was divided into three phases: the qualifier (where all participating teams are divided into three divisions), the competition phase (up to five games within the divisions are played in three weeks) and finally the playoffs including the grand final.
Eight teams had qualified for the highest division, the CS:GO Elite Division. The classification after the competition stage was as follows:

Unfortunately, the Lausanne Esports roster failed to make it to the playoffs. A team player had to stay out for health reasons. Therefore, the spot went to the fifth-place team, mYinsanity.

In the playoffs, the Babos defeated mYinsanity in the losers bracket after a minor slip up. In the final they beat mYinsanity with an impressive 2-0. Unfortunately, the expected revenge against Lausanne Esports for the loss in the Grand Final of the ESL Swiss National Championship does not materialize.
Babos Gaming Head of eSports Claudio “Bratishka” Itri says: “I was sure we could win this when I saw the guys’ performance yesterday. We showed that we can be the best team in Switzerland. Unfortunately, we still have to wait for revenge against Lausanne. I’m definitely excited for the Hero League Playoffs!”

Revenge is not long in coming: if Lausanne can qualify for the Hero League playoffs, the next match could already take place in the semi-final or grand final on May 15 or 22. It’s still exciting on the Swiss CS:GO scene.
