WhatsApp gets numerous new features – a long-awaited era

Date:

WhatsApp users can expect a number of new features in the near future. Including the long-awaited wishes of the community.

A heart, a thumbs up or hands together as a sign of thanks: WhatsApp introduces the possibility of reacting to messages with emojis. To do this, simply long press on the message in question to see a palette of emojis that can be placed immediately below the message as a reply.

According to the company, emoji reactions are useful for “reacting to messages quickly and humorously without contributing to information overload.” Messenger competitors like Signal have long offered emoji reactions as a feature.

First signs that the target group is finally giving their messenger this long-awaited role, found beta testers at the end of March. At launch, there will be a total of six different emojis, including some user favorites. The rest of the emojis will follow in the future.

Now also send huge files

WhatsApp also increased the total possible size of files that can be sent in a message to two gigabytes (2048 megabytes). Until now, the maximum was only 100 megabytes.

Also new is a counter with the remaining transmission time to upload or download. For very large files, users should ensure that they are connected to a WLAN.
