Change in the law for photovoltaic systems – more remuneration from 2023

Date:

They already shine on many rooftops: solar modules. Plant operators should keep their eyes open this year. Because in the future it might be more worthwhile to sell the self-made electric brand.

Individuals who have a photovoltaic installation on their roof probably already know the remuneration bill: electricity injected into the public network is currently only remunerated at around six cents per kilowatt hour (kWh). Electricity purchased from the supplier often costs more than 30 cents per kWh. Therefore, it is worthwhile to use as much solar energy as possible yourself. In the future, however, it may become more attractive to sell self-produced electricity. Because an expected change in the law promises to double rates of pay for full feeders. This is pointed out by the magazine “Finanztest” (Number 6/2022) over there.

New regulation of the remuneration of photovoltaic installations from 2023

If the reform of the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) passes the Bundestag in the summer, full power users should expect remuneration of up to 13.40 cents per kWh. However, this only applies to solar modules that will be put into operation from 2023.

Then full power could become profitable again, especially for system operators with power over ten kilowatts. According to product testers, these models reduce the proportion of solar energy that can be used by the customer: too little to be profitable.

Also interesting: Is a solar system on the balcony worth it to generate your own electricity?

On the other hand, whoever wants to continue using part of the solar energy for himself and feed the rest into the network, must continue to receive a maximum of 6.53 cents per kWh of electricity injected into the network. The decision between full or partial feeding is not binding, operators can reconsider it every year. he can help with that performance calculator Stiftung Warentest.

Owners need a little more patience

Basically, “Finanztest” advises homeowners who want to install a system in the near future to be patient. Only when the Federal Ministry of Economics confirms the new pay rates and the Bundestag approves the law will plant operators be safe. This will probably be in late June or early July 2022.

But the owners would have to be patient anyway, completely independent of the feeding fees. After the contract is signed, it often takes more than half a year until the small solar power plant is installed on the roof due to the high demand.
